Every year, Officer's Christian Fellowship (OCF) hosts a program called "Rocky Mountain High" at Spring Canyon, a conference center located in the center of Colorado. The program lasts a full week and is open to cadets, midshipmen, and recently commissioned officers. The spiritual focus is on integrating being a Christian with being an officer in the US military. Other activities include white water rafting, climbing, rappelling, mountain biking, and climbing a 14,000 foot mountain. This particular video is mostly from RMH 07, with a few shots from RMH 06.

After New Cadets go through six weeks of "Beast Barracks" they get reorganized into the 32 companies for the rest of the Academic Year. This takes place immediately after the New Cadets finish a 15-mile ruck march: tired and exhausted, they are "welcomed" by hundreds of upperclassmen into their new companies. This video was filmed of the Class of 2009 when they first arrived in Company F3.

Mounted Officer's Basic Course - formerly known as the Armor OBC course - is the initial school that all newly commissioned Armor officers go through to learn about how to employ tanks and scout vehicles in combat. The training has changed to reflect the Global War on Terrorism, placing a much larger emphasis than before on "light" operations (i.e. those involving HMMWVs and Strykers instead of Abrams tanks). This video was shown at the graduation of MOBC class 06-011, which graduated about sixty students in February 2007. This shows the highlights of training, ranging from gunnery training and simulator training up through the actual Field Training Exercises (FTXes) used to evaluate the students to determine if they are prepared to lead platoons.

The "Sosh Run" is a West Point tradition dating back to 1989. Every cadet has to take an International Relations class, in which they have to write an 18-page paper known as the "Sosh Paper." The academic department has a policy that papers are due at 1600hrs sharp, so papers even one minute late are considered a full day late and are marked down one letter grade. The tradition began when the Sosh department moved their offices into a new building during the middle of the year. Many cadets who went to turn in their paper (at the last minute) went to the old building and, realizing their mistake, were forced to literally run to turn their papers in on time. Over the years, this tradition has evolved into a semiannual event in which cadets dress up in a variety of costumes to turn in their paper. Some people doing the Sosh Run aren't even in the class. Others have turned their paper in long beforehand. And still others are actually doing the Sosh Run for real, hoping that their paper will make it in on time.

Incoming West Point freshmen, or Plebes, all have to go through a six-week "Cadet Basic Training," more commonly referred to as "Beast." The first half of Beast focuses mostly on learning how to be a cadet, very basic soldiering skills, and getting issued your equipment. The second half (Beast II), which this video covers, is spent mostly doing training in the field, ranging from the hand grenade and rifle ranges, gas chambers, and a week-long field training exercise at Lake Frederick. The culminating event of Beast is the fifteen mile "Marchback" to West Point, which marks the end of Cadet Basic Training and the transition to the academic year. This video is a pump-up video shown to the New Cadets on the first day of Beast II, covering the highlights from previous classes. The footage in this video comes from CBT for the Classes of 2003, 2006, and 2007. The director also appears in a short cameo shot during this video, from his Beast.

The "Bowlock" is a common mispronunciation of the acronym "BOLC" - the Basic Officer Leader's Course. This video is of the BOLC Phase II class 04-06 that trained at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma in August and September 2006. The training we went through involves a variety of tasks, ranging from combatives instruction and rifle marksmanship all the way up to FOB (Forward Operating Base) operations. This video covers the last three weeks of training, which includes (1) Urban operations, (2) advanced weapons training (machine guns / grenade launchers and reflexive fire training for close-range targets), (3) convoy operations, and (4) FOB operations.

Every August, the graduating class of the United States Military Academy at West Point dons their class rings at a ceremony by the Hudson River. Their families and dates have traveled from across the country to be with them, and all that stands between them and their weekend with their guests are roughly 1,200 Plebes (freshmen) that are waiting for the opportunity to mob these Firsties and shout the "Ring Poop." Many try to run... only a few make it. This particular video was filmed August 2003.
