You might have watched it in pathetic quality before but heres my version for this beautiful song which proves that language is never a hurdle if u r a perfect singer. An interesting thing to tell here is that the movie has 3 music directors Ghulam Nabi, Abdul Lateef (who worked in pair mostly) and Ghulam Ali (not to be confused with the singer Ghulam Ali though) Noor Jehan due to some reason did not want to goto Karachi for recording of the song so the Producer has to record this song in Lahore so Ghulam Ali was called in for this composition. Ghulam Ali too was hesitant to compose (may be for just one song in a movie) so it was decided that Ghulam Nabi and Abdul Lateef will compose the tune and Ghulam Ali will supervise it but his name will be given in credits of the movie. *on the Death Anniversary of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Sahab the last common Legend of Indo Pak Music. Kuch to hawa bhi sard thi, kuch tha tera khayal bhi.. Dil ko khushi ke sath sath hota raha malaal bhi. I wanted to say a lot about of him. But he was so multifaceted personality that i had to think again and again of which aspect of his art to be discussed with you. He started with Qawwalies and was already among the top 5 Qawwals of the country long before the joint venture with Peter Gabriel which gave him immense popularity as a trend-setter of the east and west fusion music..and when i look at the music he composed, he stands matchless there.. The way he made full stretch use of Asha in thoRa sa Pagla thoRa Deewana song and Alka in Pyar nahi karna Jahan sara kehta hay and the softness of Udit Narayen in Teri Yaad Humsafar Subah Sham are just a few examples of his musical genius. In very short span he used to quickly measure the strength of singer under his composition.. a sign of intelligent music director. I came across his compositions of geet and ghazals in Jashn-e-Faisalabad around 1978 i think. He sang for the whole night there and no body moved out of the arena. It was meant to be a qawwali night but when he started with light songs and ghazals the crowd was in pindrop silence. It was an unforgettable night and to my very surprise i dunt see much of the recordings of it on youtube or even on internet where there are hundreds other of his gems. May be oneday i can share those with you as i have those recordings through the courtesy of the great son of the soil Ustad Taari Khan who accompanied him on tabla that night. The ghazal of Parveen Shakir am present here in his fond rememberence is easily available in market cassettes and CDs but again to my utmost surprise when i searched it on net for an hour or so i failed to find it as downloadable mp3 and thus it became a must for me to share it with those fans across the world who are unable to catch it. So its not a rare gem in essence but a sweet memory and a soft feeling in it is to be conveyed to you. This ghazal's Poetess Parveen Shakir (the lone poetess in Indo-Pak history to impress me with her grace, beauty and diction above all) aint among us too and this is surely one of her most beautiful ghazals...just for those who loved someone..and lost. Details being told by the host Qandeel of Program Sur Tasveer and the heroine of the movie herself. However, plz keep in mind that it was NOT the first Pakistani movie made. Director Luqman of Film Shahida claimed throughout his life that his movie was made before Teri Yaad but it wasnt allowed to be released in cinemas for some reason. Similarlay as told by Swarna Lata in one of her interviews (uploaded in my videos) that her husband Nazir sahab made a complete film Heer md. G.A.Chishti (later named Heer Ranjha on 78rpm records so as not to get confuse with another Heer by md. Safdar Hussain) But when they went to chemical process of the negative, it had irreparable errors all the way, so the print was destroyed. Also there were couple of Punjabi movies in the same 1947-48 period which did not get completed cuz of unfavorable circumstances. Teri Yaad however was the first to be shown in cinema. There were no gramophone records made for this movie. (In fact the first 78rpm records were made of a later movie Hichkolay lyrics Saif sahab and md. Master Inayat Hussain) All other songs reside with the movie prints. Teri Yaad was last released in 1968 in my city. Since then i could only manage to see its 20 sec. clips on Door Darshan India where Mrs. Nasir Khan (widow of the film Hero Nasir Khan) was guest saying that she has this movie in her possession and she watches it whenever she remembers her husband. Im unable to understand that if the people who have to upload compulsory from the market-available Cds why dunt they select good, vibrant and rythmic songs of Noor Jehan??? Instead they choose pathetic print and crying audio songs of Noor Jehan and those too are nothing new but ordinarily familiar with the public already. Bakhshi Wazir having always been counted among B-class music directors never gave up and came up with a bit better tune occasionally. Here is one of them. Famous Video UK was no doubt famous for the services in preserving Pak Films with good audio n video so i always prefer its old recordings instead of the sunken audio of Sadaf Videos Karachi and skipping video of Tip Top Videos Lahore... Of course no need to mention jhankaar beat CDs of ANA or Imran Video Karachi who are messing with the great works of our awesome composers from the past..just for money. Shame for those who encourage them. Now that the film music in Pakistan has reached a clinical death phase, the only way to keep the old music alive was to promote Original music from our golden past but sadly its the new generation uploaders from Pakistan who think they are serving their country by jhankaar beat postings :) Sorry for being realistic but i get this feeling when some of them sends me such a song URL to watch and comment..cuz to me, anyone favouring jhankaar beats cant be taken as true music lover atleast, whoever he is. *on Death Anniversary of Rafi sahab, The Greatest Singer that Indo-Pak has ever produced. Hamid Ali Khan is considered to be the best Pakistani classical singer among the currently singing lot. Fortunately he happens to be one of my personal friends too. It started when he visited my studio in Multan a few years ago where i warmly welcomed and entertained him. He was impressed by my collection of songs and recorded a statement in audio saying that the number of recordings of his work that he saw in my library is the maximum he saw anywhere else. Am also proud that he sang a few lines JUST FOR ME from his famous ghazal "Gham ki Barish ne bhi tere Naqsh ko dhoya nahi" (by Poet Munir Niazi). I have that recorded with me. An interesting thing i forgot to share with you. When i asked him of how come he visited my city Multan? He said there's a birthday party of a kid and he wanted me to sing a Punjabi song "Batiyaan bujhai rakhdi way deeva balay sari raat" sung by Shazia Manzoor :) He wanted to have listened to it and get it recorded on a cassette to prepare till evening where he had to sing it in the Birthday Party :) Of course i fulfilled his wish and gifted him the required song in a cassette. Dunno what happened later and he sang it or not. He was also looking for the songs he sang for different Pak movies to be compiled in one cassettes which i showed him that i got all of them in my library :) Sorry that was a bit of personal sharing .. Back to the current performance now. Yes, Hamid Ali Khan is my personal friend but sorry no compromise in criticism :) Yaari apni jagah aur Tanqeed apni jagah. One word comment about this performance by him and his co-singers including his sons here... the one word is.. Pathetic :) The biggest alive classical singing superstar of Pak ! am afraid u messed it Sir :) i have added the film version of Rafi sahab here too.. One thing more, this is a really tuf song technically and i wud suggest you o watch Rafi sahab himself singing this song live with Naushad (available on youtube) and in my opinion even he could not sing it like before.. though he did sang other songs very well...so how can u expect Hamid Ali Khan or anyone else to sing it perfectly? From Original Movie Tracks.. Tere Jalwoon ki Dhoop Chhaon ne. Mehdi Hassan sings for Nadeem who was a guest actor in the movie. This is one of the last few relatively better songs of Mehdi Hassan though the effect of age is vivid in his vocal here. Lyrics by Tasleem Fazli..again same.. one of last few better songs penned by Tasleem Fazli before he died too. Waheed Murad's last official movie was Zalzala but it had a large contribution of his Duplicate. Both these movies was released after his death. Hero did some average business but Zalzala was a big flop. Director for both movies was Iqbal Yousuf and Waheed Murad was Writer as well as Producer of film Hero. Ahmed Rushdi always gave playback for Waheed Murad though Rushdi was advised not to sing by Doctors as he had survived a heart attack.. again i wud say Rushdi's song too was one of his better songs before death. i'll upload that if demanded. Till then enjoy this song. Khwaja Parvez also penned songs for Hero but this one from Tasleem Fazli has better poetry i think. Tasleem Fazli was husband of famous Pak old actress Nisho ..and father of actress Sahiba. He was brother of Nida Fazli who is based in India and is a well known lyricist too. Of course there wont be another Rafi but at least someone shud have tried to give upto 30-40% of a sing alike. However, a relatively good version from Anup Jalota is being presented to you on the occasion. While no one cud be close to Rafi but atleast it is an effort by a seasoned artist. Enjoy the song plz. I found a few so-called Guru n Pandits of Pakistani Film Music who claim to know everything about Pak Film Songs. So with due respect am uploading in 2 parts a medley of songs from 1960's as well as 1970's for them to let them realise how much they know about the true rare music. A collector is not the one who just visits the market and picks up everything and starts uploading here and labelling it as rare. A collector is the one who has devoted life for it. The one who is having the stuff not found in market on any cost. So those boasting a lot of their knowledge plz come here n check how much (or how little) they know about rare songs. Lastly, if u could listen carefully you'll know that these are not non-famous artists singing here..
