Let me say just this: I didn't understand why we had to memorize so many bible verses when we were kids, especially on a Sunday if that was when God told us to rest ;-). But on my journey through life thus far, in every crisis situation, I remember those verses and passages that have reminded me that I am a WHO-SO-EVER, and all of the advice that I will ever need is written in the Word of God. Every reassurance that I am on the right path, and every tribulation that comes my way or I cause myself, I know that I can go to the Author of the best wisdom of all - The Lord God Almighty!

The Perfect Person He's one of history's greatest personalities. Standing at the very centre of human history, Jesus changed everything -- from our system of justice to our concept of time. The Bible tells us that Jesus was born to a virgin, lived a sinless life and taught only a few years in Palestine before being crucified on a Roman cross. Three days after his burial, he rose from the dead, was seen by at least 500 different people and shortly after, ascended to heaven. During his time on earth, Jesus claimed he had the power to forgive sins, cast out demons and determine people's eternal destiny. In short, he declared himself to be God. Make no mistake, the story of Jesus is an incredible one. But for some people, it just seems too incredible to be true. Jesus may have been an important religious figure, or even a great moral teacher, they reason, but he could not have been God. This position may seem like a valid one. But as former Cambridge university professor C.S. Lewis explained in his book, Mere Christianity, "A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher; he'd either be a lunatic -- on a level with a man who says he's a poached egg -- or else he'd be the devil of hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God; or else a madman or something worse." Lewis went on to say, "You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come up with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to." Psalm 136 is a liturgy of Praise to God as Creator and Redeemer. A Levitical priest singer likely led the recital, while either worshippers or a Levitical choir responded with the refrain. Cool Bible factoid here - the response "His love endures forever" is repeated 26 times in this Psalm, which is the numerical value of God's name "Yahweh" - back when Hebrew letters were also used as numbers. A lot of intricacies went into the Psalms... some of which do get lost in translation from Hebrew to English. Psalm 136 1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! The 48th Epistle of Bondservant007 to the church at youtube: Grace and Peace to y'all! The Good News, the Gospel, you have all read and seen. But have you heard? Did you listen when the Lord calls us to be Born Again? Are you a new Christian, a new child of God? GROW IN CHRIST, metamorphosize from the baby cocoon and grow through all of the stages that God places in your life. Transform the way you think by "the renewing of your mind" (study His Word!). In life the Lord will take our journey down through the desert, through the valley, and continue to "bring us up in the nuture and admonition of the Lord" until we are TRANSFORMED into His will, a beautiful display of His workmanship, a butterfly wearing a coat of many colors. Revelation 21:5 "And He who sits on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new." And He said, "Write, for these words are faithful and true." Romans 12:2 "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect." 2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come." "You Must Be Born Again" These are the words Jesus spoke to one of the most religious men of his day (John 3:1-8). Nicodemus had come to Jesus one night to inquire about His new doctrine. Nicodemus was a Pharisee and a ruler of the Jews. He believed in God, he prayed, fasted, tithed, attended worship services, read the Scriptures and tried to keep high moral standards. Yet, with all these credentials, Jesus told him he had to be born again in order to enter the kingdom of God. Jesus said, " Unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."(John 3:3). "Unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God" (John 3:5). Later in the book of John he said, "You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you" (John 15:3). Paul wrote that Christ gave Himself to sanctify and cleanse the church with the washing of water by the WORD (Ephesians 5:26). Peter wrote that we are born again "not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, (1 Pet 1:23). The WORD is the seed that comes into your heart and causes faith to grow. Not only must you have God's Word in order to be born again, but you must have God's Spirit. It is "not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the HOLY SPIRIT" (Titus 3:5). There are several ingredients needed in making concrete. You need sand, cement, and water primarily. There is plenty of sand in the desert, but concrete doesn't appear just because it's there. There is an abundance of water in the ocean and plenty of sand, but the ocean is not full of concrete. Angel is used to translate the Hebrew word of the Old Testament pronounced mal-awk, and the Greek word of the New Testament pronounced ang-el-os. Both original words mean messenger. Angels were highly active throughout Bible History, and Prophecy has many references to their role in all that is set to occur in the end time. Angels are spirit beings that were created before humans (Psalms 148:2-5, Colossians 1:16). They do not marry, and do not die (Luke 20:34-36, Matthew 22:30). There are a vast number of them (Hebrews 12:22, Revelation 5:11). Angels are not to be worshiped (Colossians 2:18, Revelation 22:8-9). There are various orders and forms of angels (Romans 8:38, Ephesians 1:21, 3:10, Colossians 1:16, 2:15, 1 Peter 3:22). Although spirit beings, whenever they dealt directly with humans they usually appeared as ordinary looking humans (Genesis 19:1,5). Michael is the only angel that is specifically called an archangel. He and the righteous angels under him defeated Satan and his demons after which they were cast down to the earth (Revelation 12:7-10). It was Michael who stopped Satan from stealing the body of Moses after he died (Jude 9). Gabriel is a high ranking angel who delivered important prophetic messages from God to specific people, including to the prophet Daniel (Daniel 8:15-17, 9:21-24), to Zechariah, the father of John The Baptist (Luke 1:11-19), to Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ (Luke 1:26-35). The very high-ranking angel Lucifer (meaning Light Bringer) was at first an obedient and righteous servant of God, but he rebelled, becoming known as Satan (meaning accuser). A great multitude of lesser angels foolishly followed him in his rebellion, and are now commonly known as demons. Angels were very active throughout the Old Testament, including at The Destruction Of Sodom, announcing the birth of Isaac to Abraham and Sarah, serving Jacob (Genesis 28:12, 31:11, 32:1, 48:16), Moses (Exodus 3:2), Joshua (Joshua 5:13-15), Gideon (Judges 6:11-40), Samson (Judges 13), Elijah (1 Kings 19:5-8), Elisha (2 Kings 6:14-17), Daniel (Daniel 6:22), destroyed the Assyrian army that had surrounded Jerusalem (2 Kings 19:35) Angels were directly involved and present in the events in the life and crucifixion of Jesus Christ: They foretold His birth to Mary (Luke 1:26-37) and Joseph (Matthew 1:20-21), announced what He would be named (Matthew 1:21), directed their flight to Egypt to escape Herod (Matthew 2:13,20), served The Lord after His Temptation (Matthew 4:11), at Gethsemane on The Fateful Night (Luke 22:43), rolled away the stone at The Garden Tomb (Matthew 28:2), announced His resurrection to the women (Matthew 28:5-7), were present when He appeared to Mary of Magdala (John 20:11-14). Angels are just as active in the New Testament. They were directly involved with the progress of the early Church: an angel rescued Peter from prison (Acts 12:7-9), struck Herod dead for blasphemy (Acts 12:23), directed Cornelius (Acts 10:3), was with Paul when he was shipwrecked on Malta (Acts 27:23). Angels will be instrumental in the events of The Return Of Jesus Christ: A great number of them will appear with Him (2 Thessalonians 1:7), when they will gather His elect (Matthew 24:31, see also Spiritual and Physical Gatherings). They will be like reapers (Matthew 13:39). They will separate the righteous from the wicked (Matthew 13:41,49). Angels will carry out many of the events of the end-time The Seven Seals. A tattoo that is rarely seen today, early seamen who were dockhands had a rope tattooed around the wrist to show their profession. Another old maritime tattoo, the letters "H", "O", "L", and "D", one each tattooed on the knuckles of one hand and the letters "F", "A", "S", and "T" on the knuckles of the other hand were said to help seaman hold on to the riggings better. This amazing passage from the Hebrew Prophets was written over 700 years before the birth of Jesus. It is found in Jewish Bibles today, though it is left out of the weekly synagogue readings, as are many other texts of the Bible. When people read Isaiah 53 without knowing which part of the Bible it comes from, they often wrongly assume is from the New Testament. Did Isaiah foresee the sufferings of Jesus to pay for our sins? Isaiah 52 The Exalted Servant 13 Behold, My servant will prosper, He will be high and lifted up and greatly exalted. 14 Just as many were astonished at you, My people, So His appearance was marred more than any man And His form more than the sons of men. 15 Thus He will sprinkle many nations, Kings will shut their mouths on account of Him; For what had not been told them they will see, And what they had not heard they will understand.
