New Delhi, June 25(ANI): Actors turning producers seem to be the latest trend in Bollywood. Joining the bandwagon of actors like Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar, Aftab Shivdasani is gearing up to don the producer's hat. The actor has reportedly set up his company Rising Son Entertainment, and the first film will hit the floor in June-July this year. Interestingly Aftab is not only producing the film but is writing it too.

Assam, June 25(ANI): Twenty six militants of United Liberation Front of Asom or ULFA surrendered to the Indian Army in Assam on Tuesday. ULFA rebels surrendered to General Chander Prakash at a surrender ceremony conducted in the district. Militants gave away their arms and ammunitions and got a rose flower in return during the surrender function. The army has now decided to give vocational training to the surrendered militants, which would help them earn their livelihood in future.

Balasore, June 24(ANI): This is not an unusual scene in eastern India during monsoons. But these villages in Orissa are gradually limping back to normalcy as floodwaters have receded. According to Balasore district authorities' relief material including food and medicines has reached all the stranded villages and affected people. The area received a record rainfall of 770 mm for three days last week.

Kathmandu, June 24(ANI): Thousands of passengers were stranded across Nepal on Monday as transport operators called for an indefinite strike. They locked public buses and other vehicles in garages demanding a 35 percent hike in transport fares after recent increases in fuel prices. The government has allowed them only 25 percent hike. According to other people, the Nepali government should speak to all concerned parties before making decisions over price rise caps.

Midnapore, June 22(ANI): Indian army officials dropped relief material in flood-affected Midnapore in Bengal on Sunday. The state authorities in the West Bengal have called the army to assist them with the relief operations. Although the Indian air force dropped food and relief supplies across 31 blocks affected in the two districts many villagers were visibly angry at delays. About 2 million people have been affected by the floods caused by heavy rainfall.

Doda, June 22(ANI): A major tragedy was prevented in Jammu when security forces detected 20 kilograms of Improvised Explosive Device planted by militants on Saturday. Security forces with the help of sniffer dogs found an IED planted in the middle of the road. Randeep Kumar, the superintendent of police said that the explosives would have been planted by a suspected Lashker-e-Taiba militant.

Chatterhama, June 22(ANI): Police assisted by the Central Reserve Police Force or CRPF killed one militant in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. The militant was hiding in a house in Chatterhama, around 25 kilometres from Srinagar. According to the officials, the encounter is going on since morning. Two CRPF soldiers were injured during the encounter operation. The injured were admitted to a hospital and they are out of danger.

Kathmandu, June 22(ANI): Exiled Tibetans in Nepal have taken to the streets once more in protest against the passage of the Olympic flame through Tibet. Nepalese police detained at least 400 Tibetans demonstrators protesting outside the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu on Saturday. Many scuffled with the police before being dragged through the streets and pushed into vans. The protesters said China held the torch relay in Lhasa to show its control over Tibet.

Srinagar, June 21(ANI): Police in Indian Kashmir is on an alert to battle out militants from the region. According to a top police official, a large number of militants are present in the disputed area. Addressing media on the sidelines of a passing out parade, police Director General Kulkdeep Khuda said more than a 1000 militants were operating in the valley. However, he said that the police is all set to face any situation.

Lahore, June 20(ANI): Pakistani speedster Mohammad Asif took a sigh of relief as he arrived home on Friday after around three weeks of detention in Dubai. Asif was charged with possession of illegal drugs. Later, Dubai prosecutors dropped charges against him on Thursday citing the case to be insignificant and announced that he will be deported to Pakistan. After returning to Karachi, Asif caught a connecting flight to Lahore to the Pakistan Cricket Board headquarters.

The rise in petrol, diesel and cooking gas prices announced by the government on June 4 had put the pressure on price line pushing the inflation by week ending June 7, up from 8.75 per cent in the preceding week. New Delhi, June 20 (ANI): The Finance Minister of India on Thursday launched a micro credit scheme to provide loans at low interest rates to the slum dwellers. The scheme is supported by a slew of state-run banks and Life Insurance Corporation of India in collaboration with an NGO, 'Asha'. P Chidambaram along with Sheila Dikshit initiated the pilot scheme in a South Delhi locality.

Nainital, june 20(ANI): Indian Army's efforts to revive Yatch sailing in Naini Lake in Nainital is bearing fruit.
