What more natural choice could Maid Marian make? Here is the first great action hero of the cinema - Douglas Fairbanks. He may not have been a kickboxer but he surpasses all other action stars in the class department. This particular film is very near and dear to my heart - being the very first silent film I ever remember seeing as a child. Why do you think I call myself Maid Marian? It wowed me then and it still wows me now. Directed by Allan Dwan. Also starring Wallace Beery, Alan Hale, Sam De Grasse, and Enid Bennett as the fair Lady Marian. There's also a brief appearance by director Robert Florey playing a peasant. This is what classic silent film entertainment is all about. I'd like to dedicate this movie to my friends in the Outlands Community, who gave solid support to my work when I was ready to pack it all in. Enjoy.

Maid Marian Classic Media is proud to present this Eisenstein masterpiece. This version has English language title cards and synchronized sound effects which were added by Eisenstein's assistant. Music by Dmitri Shostakovich. This film deserves the same meticulous restoration that Kino recently gave to Potemkin. I will also be presenting an alternate print of this seminal Soviet silent with the original Russian titles.

A tribute to a classic German film from 1931. It is considered a classic of gay cinema; but at its core is a much broader message, that of a plea for a more humane and compassionate society. It was promptly banned when Hitler came to power; although Goebbels privately expressed his admiration for the film. The film has yet to see a DVD release. I initially planned to make the entire film available but the titles were illegible once the film had been re-rendered to meet this website's filesize restrictions. However, I will make the film available to interested parties in exchange for a donation. In the meantime, I hope you will enjoy this tribute I have compiled for you. I have deliberately left out some of the most beautiful moments of this film, as I believe they should be viewed within the context of the film as a whole. The song is "White Bird" by "It's A Beautiful Day."

May Thomas Edison, Edwin S. Porter, Carl Stalling and Raymond Scott forgive me for this act of irreverent impudence. I was puttering around in my film restoration lab late one night when I tripped and dropped this film in a vat of Warner Brothers cartoon music. Sometimes, film restoration work isn't pretty! This film was originally made in 1906, based on Winsor McCay's comic strip of the same name. It was Edison's blockbuster of the year. I hope to eventually obtain additional prints of the film so I may restore it properly. This is the first - and last - co-production between this channel and my affiliate channel, Euterpe Jones Video. I hope you find the results amusing. Hard to find silent public domain classic which stars Emil Jannings, Lya De Putti, Warwick Ward and Maly Delschaft. Directed by E.A. DuPont. Cinematography by Karl Freund. Silent film with no accompanying soundtrack. The only print I have of this rare film is very weathered, and I decided not to attempt to restore it, other than to correct the projection speed. Title cards in Italian. Superb acting and cinematography elevate this simple tale of a fatal love triangle. I have always loved this film, and hope someone out there will enjoy my sharing it.

It's been a while since I uploaded anything to this account. I wanted to do something special, so I obtained and restored the very rare, first film version of Alice In Wonderland, made in England by Cecil Hepworth in 1903 (this versatile director also plays Frog in the film). The original negative is severely damaged, and much of the film has deteriorated. No known prints survive anywhere so restoration is next to impossible. However I was able to brighten it considerably and improve its overall appearance with a sepia tint. The music you will recognise as Claude Debussy's "Prelude To The Afternoon Of A Faun." The BBC have rescued this film from obscurity by releasing it as an extra, with commentary, on their DVD for the 1966 Jonathan Miller production of Alice in Wonderland. As informative and interesting as the audio commentary was, I find I also quite enjoy viewing this film with a classic, elegant musical accompaniment. This is for the Alice who lives inside of all of us.
