Tibet...Tibet had been an independent country since ancient times. Tibetan have been protecting the teachings of Buddhism for centuries. In 1950, China's military invaded Tibet. China deprived Tibetan people of their own country. China deprived Tibetan people of Buddhism. 99% of Buddhist temples have been destroyed in Tibet. China deprived Tibetan people of their families. The number of Tibetans who have been murdered during the past half century has reached 1.28 million. Zenkoji temple (Nagano Japan) is a Buddhist temple with a history of 1400 years that was established in 644A.D. Zenkoji Temple had accepted the offer of kicking off the Olympic Toarch Relay that had been scheduled on April 26th. On April 18th, however, Buddhist monks held a small ceremony for the victims of the Tibetan uprising, which occured at the beginning of March 08'. Residents of Nagano attended this small ceremony. They lit the number of candles equivalent to the number of victims. The number of candles was 177. They prayed for the victims of of the Tibetan uprising, which occured at the beginning of March 08'. A cold rain was falling that day. A certain person said to me, "Don't mix up sports with politics. Sports should be removed from politics." I answered as follows, Many lives of innocent people are threatened at this moment. How can anyone enjoy Beijing olympics while knowing that many lives of innocent people are threatened? We should raise a voice in protest now. It is a moral principle. It is a human action. On April 20th, Zenkoji Temple declined the offer of kicking off the Olympic Toarch Relay. Chinese military attacked and invaded Tibet in 1950. China occupied Tibet who was the fully independent nation before the invasion of China. China has been torturing and slaughtering enormous numbers of innocent Tibetan civilians since 1950. TIBETAN VICTIMS of CHINESE ATROCITIES reaches 1.28 million people. Tibetan people have been suffering from China's cruel and bloody repression. Please don't apply the word "Human Right Abuse" to what is going on in Tibet. What is going on in Tibet? China has been committing "Cultural Genocide" against Tibetan people in the form of ethnic cleansing since China's invasion. "Cultural Genocide" against Tibetan people should be called "Unforgivable Humanitarian Tragedy". Tibetan people have the legitimate right of racial self-determination as well as the independence of Kosovo was acknowledged by the international community. The population of Kosovo is 2 million (90% is Albanian). The population of Tibetans is more than 5.4 million only in China. Tibetan people have the right to declear the independence from China. China is just invader. The international community should condemn China as invader violated Tibetan's sovereignty. TAMAGAWABOAT http://tamagawaboat.wordpress.com/

"OUHEN" (往返/おうへん), is a short series documenting a trip to Japan I took between August 11th to August 19th, 2007. In only a short week, I met many people, took many risks, and found myself in many problems I hadn't foreseen or planned for. On this episode... I walk around the Zenkoji Temple, looking for the location of tomorrow's concert. Later, I come across some stores on the way back to the hotel, and come across the first vending machine with a Mountain Dew in it I've seen the entire trip. Then I drink it. Silence on this issue of systemic abuse of human rights by China is a crime in itself. This song is the theme song of the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympic Games and performed by AGHARTA, which is named after the capitol of the Inner Earth near Tibet.

Some people may be interested in a news about the torch relay in Japan. The relay will be held in Nagano city, 1998 Winter Game host. Originally it had been planned to start from Zenkoji temple, a national treasure with 1300 year history, but Zenkoji announced withdrawal from the relay for security concerns and protesting against China on Tibet issue. After the withdrawal, Nagano city suffered to find an alternative start point and finally decided to a vacant land owned by the city. The ironic thing is that the place was originally used as a detention center i.e. the torch starts from ex-jail place.(Mr.366,Thanks!)

A temple in central Japan has decided to pull out, and not serve as the starting point for the Japanese leg of the Olympic torch relay next week. They cited safety concerns and the crackdown on Buddhists in Tibet for their change of heart. The Buddhist Zenkoji Temple in Nagano accepted the offer to kick off the April 26 relay. But temple officials decided to pull out after seeing the recent rash of killings of Buddhists in Tibet. The temple will hold an executive meeting within a few days to formally decide whether to withdraw from the relay route. Eighty torch-bearers are expected to jog the 18.5 km route, which had so far not been altered or cut short despite chaotic demonstrations at some of the torch's stops around the world. Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Nobutaka Machimura says Japan wants to ensure security and prevent confusion for the Japanese leg, although he added that police at home wont need help from China. A Nagano official says there will be no security role for Chinese paramilitary flame guards in Japan. The men dressed in the blue and white jumpsuits have been criticized elsewhere for their heavy-handed approach to manage the torch's progress.

This clip's highlights include the official introduction sequence, with the Olympic Rings. It all starts with the Zenkoji (善光寺) Temple's bell tolling. The languages used in the ceremony are Japanese (host nation), English and French (the official languages of the Olympic Games). This clip ends with the introduction of the choirs from 5 different cities/areas of the world. Sorry for the "news update" in the middle of this clip. It was done, when there was not much to see during the beginning of this part of the ceremony and before the showing of the choirs. One more thing, here are the places where the choirs were held. - Berlin, Germany; (ベルリン, ドイツ連邦共和国) - Sydney, Australia; (シドニー, オーストラリア) - United Nations HQ (New York); (ニューヨーク) - Forbidden City (Beijing); (北京) - Cape Point (near Cape Town at False Bay), South Africa. (ケープタウン, 南アフリカ共和国) Throughout the clips that talk about Nagano in this regard, the sources for the names and places here are compliments of Wikipedia.
