House of Musical Traditions in Takoma Park, MD (just outside of Washington DC) is a dealer for Alvarez and Yairi acoustic guitars. Here we have Mark Sylvester, one of our teachers, demonstrating the ADY1 Yairi Ani DiFranco Signature guitar. It is based on the Bob Weir design for Alvarez-Yairi, which is a very sought-after model for acoustic-electric players. It has an extra-deep mahogany folk body and the System 600T electronics installed--one of the most natural-sounding acoustic systems on the market. The top is solid Canadian Cedar which produces exceptionally brilliant tone with tremendous sustain, clarity and tightly focused bass. Couple this with the mahogany back and sides and you get lush, full-bodied tone with amazing projection. The guitar uses Alvarez' patented direct-coupled bridge, which provides maximum transfer of string energy to the top. Individual saddles ensure balanced string response and superb articulation.
When Alvarez debuted their signature Ani DiFranco guitar a few years ago, we knew we had to carry it--being huge fans of both Alvarez and Ani! To say this guitar is "distinctive looking" is an understatement. Besides the golden yellow satin finish, the other distinctive feature is the large gray pickguard, which protects the guitar from Ani's signature "percussive" style of playing. Even if you're not necessarily an Ani fan, you may find this appealing if you use some of the same kind of percussive techniques.
List Price on this model is $2,799. Our discounted price is $2,149 which includes hardshell case. To inquire about purchasing, please contact HMT directly at hmtmail@hmtrad.com or 301-270-9090, or visit our website at www.hmtrad.com.
