Yagi bushi est un minyō de la région de Gunma (est de Honshū). Cette chanson s'appelait autrefois Shimbo Kōdaiji kuzushi. Sous ce titre, elle servait à faire la cour à une femme. La version de Yagi bushi interprétée ici par l'Ensemble Sakura est instrumentale. Ce minyō est chanté pendant la période d'O-Bon durant laquelle, chaque année à la mi-août, est fêté le retour des morts parmi les vivants. Telles qu'elles nous sont parvenues, les paroles de Yagi bushi évoquent un bandit au grand cœur qui était aussi un joueur invétéré. Ce qui semble être une originalité des minyō, c'est que leurs thèmes paraissent n'avoir souvent que très peu de rapport avec la nature des fêtes durant lesquelles ils sont chantés... Les Japonais s'en justifient en disant qu'à O-Bon, on danse avec les morts, et donc que les thèmes peuvent être très variés et même triviaux dès lors que les morts ont été des vivants et quelquefois des bons vivants.
