Mammootty's first film with internationally reputed director Shaji N. Karun, titled Kutty Shranku, to be produced by Anil Ambani's Reliance Entertainment, will be shot in three schedules in and around the famous Vembanad Kayal, the scenic lake stretching from Alappuzha to Kumarakom.
The three schedules are necessary as weather and season play an important part in the story, director Shaji N. Karun said. The locations chosen for Kutty Shranku are Kaavaalam, Kumarakom and Vaikkom, in the backwaters of central Travancore.
Mammootty will feature as a sailor who operates a goods boat between Kondugnaloor and Kollam through the backwaters of Kerala. There will be three heroines in the film, mostly from Bollywood.
The script is penned jointly by Shaji N. Karun and noted British writer Farukh Dhondy. The film will be made in Malayalam with English subtitles for an international audience.
