Canada is a constitutional monarchy. The Constitution declares that executive authority is vested in the Queen (in her capacity as Sovereign of Canada). OMG! Now, I'm sure she is a lovely person, but to be honest....she's England's lovely person. England played a major role developing this country but some people here think it is time to 'leave the nest'. We're all grown up now and we have to recognize that we are a country built on a French/English foundation supported by indigenous sustenance. It will be extremely difficult for 'the monarch industry' in Canada to let go. After all, when a member of the Royal family comes to Canada, Canadians get to wear funny hats like the queen, sip tea, eat crumpets, and wear their Sunday best. But the last time Royalty visited this remote part of the world, it was painfully obvious that we are no longer alike. The Royal entourage was not ready for the cold 5 degree Celsius temperatures that greeted her and the Royal media took verbal cheap shots at everything from the weather to the culture of the place. That's OK. We are all grown up now. We can handle it. The blue haired ladies, monarchists and loyalists of Canada must come to grips with the reality of this country and let go of the Royal breast they've forced us to suckle on for the past several hundred years. My Canada excludes the monarchy. It just ain't me. Salut. Megweetch. BTW. Nice hats.
