Scribble Jam Archive Number 1 DVD is a compilation of three videos: SJ 2000, SJ 2001, and the Scribble Jam best of video. Scribble Jam is unique because all four elements of hip-hop are represented individually during the three day event. The Archive contains three videos that are all exceptional in their own right. The first one, SJ 2000, has a lot of amazingly talented emcees battling each other. Brother Ali, Sage Francis, Blueprint, Adeem, Eyedea and others hit up the mic and tear the house down. The Junk Wartz a.k.a Self-X win the bboy battle of which only the final battle is included on the video. Precyse and DJ Abilities grace the turntables in the DJ battle and the graffiti section contains some truly amazing pieces. As if that's not enough, Scribble Jam 2001 is also included on this DVD. Like SJ200 the Graffiti section produces some beautiful compositions contrasted by some truly malevolent pieces. The bboy section highlights breakers from all over the east coast and Midwest. The breaking is even better than in SJ 2000. The two DJ's that battle it out are Scratch Bastard and DJ Sprite. Scratch Bastard busts out an awesome Star Wars beat juggle and Sprite's sets' are full of flavor. The biggest section is of course the emcee battles. Blueprint, Alias, Jin, Unseen, Adeem, Sage Francis, Slug, Brother Ali, Mac Lethal and many others get on the mic and battle for Scribble Jam supremacy. And last but not least is the Scribble Jam best of video which contains highlights from Scribble Jam 1997, '98, '99, 2000, and 2001. The movie is narrated by Pase and he tells us about how Scribble Jam started and became what it is today.
This compilation video is a must have for anyone who loves today's underground hip-hop scene, especially the lyrical and Graffiti elements.
