By Ross Scordato...an original, "Betty Boop Blues" (4-track). "The party ended at 4:am. Betty drags her heels in the spilt whiskey and broken glass. Under the lamp-post, searching her purse for the key. Coffee stains on her turtle-neck sweater; she only remembers the run in her nylons, and the needle skipping on the phonograph."...R.S.

By Ross Scordato. This is "Blvd. St. Germain" (three guitars) from my 4-track tapes; was writ in Italy in the 1980's. I was inspired by yet another visit to Paris...thinking about the Bohemians and Beatniks...and a street musician from Market St. San Francisco who i recognised on Blvd. St. Germain (used to play w/ a guy called FINGAS).

By Ross Scordato. "One Kiss Leads To Another". This song was writ in Chicago in 1973. The guitar is a 1964 Gibson ES 345 td. It is a direct descendant of an ancient Italian instrument called a LIUTO. The Liuto, or Lute, probably entered Western Europe by way of Constantinople. Actually, the name "LIU"(6)- "TO"(heads) suggests that it may have originated in China; six pegs were used to hold the strings at the top of the instrument.

By Elmore James,....."Shake Your Moneymaker", about 1961. In 1963 Chicago blues disc jockey Big Bill Hill contacted Elmore and arranged for him to make further recordings and another "comeback". Sadly, it was not to be. His health impaired by years of travel, precarious living, and over reliance on alcohol, he suffered a heart attack on May 23, 1963. It has only been since his death that he has been accorded the icongraphic status he NOW COMMANDS as one of the towering figures of the Blues.....Pete Welding.

By John Lennon and Paul McCartney...."Tomorrow Never Knows". (this version was from my 4-track tapes) In this song John was singing about Esoteric Buddhism (inspired by the Tibetan Book of the Dead) which he was into at the time...the realisation that all we really are is "pure consciousness", devoid of desire, discriminations and judgements; "...it is KNOWING" "...it is BEING".

Beatles guitar lesson. "I Feel Fine" by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. The main body of this song starts off in bar-D, then progresses to bar-C, and finally to bar-G, while playing the notes with the pinky. The chorus is G...Cb minor....C.....D... I found that many times in the songs of the Beatles, George Harrison (lead guitar) used the same notes in the song chords to develope the lead harmonies.
