Artguise welcomes back to the gallery painter Erin Robertson with a compelling new series entitled : RESPONSE. These new oil and resin compositions were inspired by the artist's observations after witnessing various "emergency" situations. Erin's night scenes draw the viewer in with their coloured strobbing spotlights and the sheen of artificial light that pulses and reflects off of the wet pavement. The viewer is witness to all of the unfolding events, a participant in the tension of response, a party to the moments of action / inaction and the ballet of orchestrated mayhem. There is a heightened sense of alertness as we tread carefully through these chaotic windows of colour. The artist's palette demands that we look deeper into the the night. Erin's technique is awash in light and her use of earthy colours is a perfect juxtaposition against the bold illuminated traces of light that reach out into in the darkness. These depictions are rich and painterly though wonderfully effective in conveying a sense of realism.
