Hi, these are Darwin and Lamarck, the two Leopard Green Spotted Pufferfish we rescued from Petco yesterday. I knew nothing about the pufferfish before I saw them languishing in Petco's fish dept., went home and did some research, and decided to go back and try to rehabilitate them at home. We have 3 other fishtanks, and this (10 gallon) was already empty of fish, and ready for new inhabitants.
If anyone has any advice on treating ich in this type of puffer, I would appreciate it. The two of them, Darwin and Lamarck, (heh heh) are in a small tank for now, and I have raised the temp to 83 degrees, and am treating them with Maricide (for ich) and Melafix (to help with fin regrowth - they were either nipped at or injured while in the overcrowded tank at the store). They were kept in freshwater previously, so I have only added 1 tbsp. of freshwater aquarium salt per 5 gallons, for treatment.
They are very frisky and interested in us. I really hope they both survive the ich and fin loss, since we're already becoming attached to them!
