IBM Interactive Ray-tracer (iRT) using three Sony Playstation3s (PS3) to render a model that is 75x more complex then those used in today's games. Ray-tracing is the rendering technique used by the film industry and is considered to complex for today's game systems. The code was written using IBM Cell SDK 2.0 on Linux. The iRT is totally scalable and only requires one Cell SPE to run. More PS3s = More SPEs = Higher client frame rates. All images are at least 720p 4x multi-sampled, with dynamic light sources, procedurally generated atmosphere, and dynamic shadows. Sorry about the bad camera microphone. SPREAD THE WORD! The GameTrailers comparison of the PS3 version to the 360 version is wrong! This video proves it! by just enabling RGB Full Range in Display Settings, the game will look the same as the 360 version. A)It works on all games, some you shall notice a huge difference, others not alot. I saw a big difference on Assassins Creed, Turok and some others. It mainly shows well on Cross platform titles, but exclusives it doesn't show as much (like Uncharted) Since the develoupers have clearly optermised it for the PS3.

And Ebay believes installing open source software on an open platform (as is stated on Sony's site) is a "copyright violation". FIXED in firmware 1.50! PS1/PS2 upscaling in 1.80! But it's not REAL upscaling. Why? Cause the polygons themselves aren't rendered in high def, the entire image output is just put through a filter to make it look upscaled. The same method is used for upscaling DVD picture quality to 720p/1080i/1080p. ============================ The glitch shown in this video only occurs on firmwares earlier than 1.5! UPDATE: Issue fixed with recent firmware update. I've got the PS3 connected (via HDMI) to a Panasonic 42" plasma, model number TH-42PX500 (Japanese TV). The PS3 is set to output to 720p, which my TV can handle. When I launch a PS3 game, after the "Playstation 3" logo appears, the screen goes black. The game is loading fine, I just cant see it. The only way I can regain control of my TV at this point is to tune into the regular TV channels using my TV remote. Only then I can use the input selection button to get back to HDMI. Once I do this, I can see and play the game. My guess is that the PS3 is sending some kind of signal through the HDMI cable that is making the TV unhappy. The strange thing is, I tried a PS1 game and it worked fine.
