Our latest spy video shows the next-generation 5 Series in the mountains of Austria and on the Nürburgring test track in Germany. Like the prototypes seen earlier, these latest 5 Series mules are covered in heavy camouflage. It doesn't matter much, as this evolution isn't expected to change drastically from the current model. The overall size of this prototype doesn't appear substantially different, so we don't expect any major changes in terms of passenger room, either. The real unknowns lie in the choices BMW will make when it comes time to put an engine under the new sheet metal. Given the somewhat higher sales volume of the 5 Series compared to the more expensive 7 Series, fuel economy will play a slightly more important role. The twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 that's expected to power the 7 Series might prove too thirsty, so BMW could opt for a more efficient V8 to keep overall fuel consumption down. Meanwhile, expect to see the continued use of BMW's inline-6s for base and midrange models. On the tech side, this 5 Series will be the third car in the BMW lineup to use FlexRay for the vehicle's internal control systems. The electronic technology system is designed to allow much faster communications among all the various vehicle systems. BMW first introduced FlexRay for the new-generation X5, although only the vehicle's electronic damping control system exploits the system's faster processing speed. The upcoming 2009 BMW 7 Series is expected to use FlexRay technology for at least a dozen systems, so the 5 Series will most likely go even further. Expect to see even more driver adjustability built into the car as well as additional integration among systems like Active Steering Control, Electronic Differential Control and the usual traction and stability control systems. You can expect to see the official debut of the 2011 BMW 5 Series at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show, with U.S. sales beginning a year or so after.

The Sukhoi Su-27 (Су-27 in the Cyrillic alphabet) (NATO reporting name 'Flanker') is originally a Soviet fighter aircraft designed by the Sukhoi Design Bureau (SDB). It was intended as a direct competitor for the new generation of American fighters (which emerged as the F-14 Tomcat, F-15 Eagle, F-16 Fighting Falcon, and F/A-18 Hornet), with exceptional range, heavy armament, and very high agility. The Su-27 most often flies air superiority missions, but is able to perform almost all combat operations. Some believe the Su-27 to have been born from a competition between Sukhoi and Mikoyan-Gurevich, given the Su-27's and Mikoyan MiG-29's similar shape. This is not so. The Su-27 was designed as long-range air superiority fighter and interceptor, whereas the MiG-29 was designed to fill the role of short-range tactical support fighter.

Surface is a 30-inch display in a table-like form factor that small groups can use at the same time. There are four key attributes that Surface brings. First, Direct interaction: Users can actually "grab" digital information with their hands, interacting with content by touch and gesture, without the use of a mouse or keyboard. Second, Multi-touch: Surface computing recognizes many points of contact simultaneously, not just from one finger like a typical touch-screen, but up to dozens of items at once. Third, Multi-user: The horizontal form factor makes it easy for several people to gather around surface computers together, providing a collaborative, face-to-face computing experience. Finally, Object recognition: Users can place physical objects on the surface to trigger different types of digital responses, including the transfer of digital content. Surface also features the ability to recognize physical objects that have identification tags similar to bar codes. This means that when a customer simply sets a wine glass on the surface of a table, a restaurant could provide them with information about the wine they're ordering, pictures of the vineyard it came from and suggested food pairings tailored to that evening's menu.

Huit modules anacreontiques pour Prototypes de Paulo Nenflídio Évènement realisé à la Gallerie Fortes Vilaça (São Paulo, Brésil) au cours de l'exposition individuelle de l'artiste plastique Paulo Nenflidio, nommée "Protótipos" (prototypes), novembre-décembre 2006. La pièce musicale a été composée par le chef d'orchestre Luciano Garcez spécialement pour cette exposition. La pièce s'inspire librement dans l'univers du poète grec Anacreon. Le compositeur a utilisé des morceaux de l'Opéra Anacreon de Cherubini (1760-1842), ainsi que des poèmes d'Anacreon lui-meme et du poète beat américain Allen Ginsberg. Pour l'expo "Prototypes", Nenflidio a creé quatre objets inédits qui forment une petit orchestre. Ces objets sont le "Realejo Heavy Metal (Limonaire Heavy Metal), un objet pareil à une limonaire populaire, ayant une manivelle laquelle, actionnée, déclenche des enregistrements de Rock "heavy metal". "Protótipo" (Prototype), qui prête son nom à l'exposition, est un objet pareil à un piano, mais muni de deux gants. Un d'eux, avec des petites lampes, controlle la tonalité du son à partir des variation lumineuses. L'autre controlle la variaion d'intensité sonore selon la distance entre le gant et l'objet. "Telembau" est une paire d'objets pareils à des "berimbaus", un instrument tipique du Brésil, qui jouent un rôle de "walkie talkie". Ils sont joués par deux personnes, qui peuvent garder une distance maxime de 40 m entre eux. Quand la corde d'un d'eux est frappée, le son est captée par l'autre via radio, ce qui crée la possibilité de communication par moyen des rythmes. "Estudo para gerador de música n° 2" (Étude pour générateur de musique n° 2" est comme une boîte à musique, celle-ci aléatoire et ajustable, qui peut aussi être manipulée. Paulo Nenflidio est artiste plastique, inventeur et constructeur d'engins sonores inusités. Il est diplomé en Multimédia et Intermédia par le Département d'Arts Plastiques de l'Université de São Paulo et Technicien en Elétronique par le collège technique de l'État Lauro Gomes de São Bernardo (SP). Ses connaissances d'élétronique, arts plastiques et musique sont utilisés pour créer des travaux qui se lient à l'histoire de la musique d'invention. Entre les concepts de sont travail sont des idées comme la musique autonome, indeterminée et en temps réel.
