Ishmeet Singh, winner of the popular Star Plus reality show Voice of India 2007, died in Maldives on Tuesday evening 29july 2008. He drowned in the swimming pool of his hotel Chaaya Island Dhonveli in North Male.The 19-year-old singer from Punjab had arrived at Male on the morning of June 29, to perform at a promotional event to be held on August 1.City residents who had cheered Ishmeet Singh as Voice of India today were in deep grief as the news of his tragic death in the Maldives.His father Gurpinder Singh Sodhi and mother Amritpal Kaur were shocked.All deaths are very painful; any unexpected death is more hurting and of course accidental death of a young man, who is so adored, pangs the heart like a bite of a snake which makes the whole soul intoxicated. With the departure of Ishmeet, Punjab lost her son, India lost her voice, the fans of the region lost their hero and the music lost a prince, a promising king of musical world. There is nothing to say for the painful incident, let drop tears for the son, pray for the departed soul and let pay sympathy to the family members of Ishmeet who are to bear an unrecoverable wound at heart, an unbearable pain for all time.
