Brendan Ryan, 2002 champion Goldpanners shortstop, is now an infielder for the St. Louis Cardinals. Take a look at Brendan when he was with the Panners. A guy who never stops moving, check out his hustle on the field.. on EVERY pitch. He suffered two big injuries during the season, including a broken collarbone. The second part of the clip shows Brendan in a sling after that injury. One of the craziest ballplayers ever, Brendan, after a Cardinals game last week (7/12/8), said that his time with the Goldpanners was "probably up there at the top" of his baseball experiences. The segment closes with his impersonation of his Goldpanners/Lewis-Clark State head coach Ed Cheff.

This is the famous "Plane Crash Game" -- as seen on ESPN, FOX Sports, "World's Most Amazing Videos" (etc.), and vidclip websites around the Internet. Over a million views on YouTube alone... which is amazing, considering that nobody died. Just think of how many hits there would be if one or two people had been freakishly injured or snuffed! The Cameraman and Producer is Todd Dennis; Gero von Dehn makes the "Crazy Landing" call. Gero is now lead singer for the Pittsburgh, PA metal group "Von Dane" The good news (I guess.. don't know if I want this guy flying again) is that all four people on board survived. The unbelievable news is that the pilot's daughter was playing soccer on the field in the background when it happened, and rushed to her father's aid!! Story Here: http://alaskan-legacies.com/ablblog/?p=50 The batter is Jeff Culpepper (Cubs). After the game resumed :45 later, Jeff took the first pitch to the wall in right. This disturbing video of a baseball player being hit in the head by a pitched ball is now being released after having been held under wraps for over six years. It is obviously dangerous anytime a batter gets hit by a pitched ball ; however, in this case, the beaning was especially brutal due to the screaming velocity of the pitch. The shattering impact of a nearly 100 mile per hour fastball could be heard from a great distance, and presented a potentially career and life threatening situation for the batter. Dazed and bloodied after being struck in the head by the pitch, the batter had to be taken to the hospital for observation. Miraculously, there was no permanent damage. The pitcher had recently joined the Goldpanners from Team USA, and had not yet yielded a single earned run all season. In fact, he ended the year with a 0.00 ERA in 18 innings pitched, with a win and seven saves. Needless to say, he had absolutely no intention of hitting the batter, and was disturbed by the incident as well. The game situation reveals the accidental nature of the beaning, as it was the top of the 9th inning, and only a single run separated the score. All pitchers have outings that are less effective than others, and such was the case for the Goldpanners' closer during this game. In fact, Paul Janish - who is now in the major leagues with Cincinnati - was afterwards almost hit as well, prompting a furious outburst from the visitor's dugout. For more details, and to watch the entire ballgame, visit goldpanners.com Gero von Dehn delivered the play-by-play, and Todd Dennis (yours truly) handled production and camera work.
