Futain is een band met jonge muzikanten die het spelen van 60 en 70'er jaren muziek goed verstaan. Vrijdag 28 december traden ze voor een goed doel op in het MFC te Stiphout. (Holland) Op de achtergrond wordt gedanst door Linda en Hans Verhoeve en op de voorgrond wordt door ML en Arno Verhoeven. Het was kei gezellig !!!

www.funtain.ca Nessie the serpent is a musical instrument known as a "funtain". It's interactive, and lets you manipulate jets of water, to control the tone, volume, and pitch of the music from the instrument. Kids love it.

Shows invention of the hydraulophone, a musical instrument based on pressurized water jets, featuring "Nessie", a children's hydraulophone in the form of a cute green sea monster, as well as other hydraulophones, such as the single-jet hydraulophone in which all sound is made from one screeching water valve on a single jet. The video shows various changes in the sound, depending on how the water jets are blocked.

Suite for Hydraulophone, as performed by Ryan Janzen in the Great Hall, with the Hart House Symphonic Band. This is the world's first orchestral performance in which instruments make sound from all three states of matter (solid, liquid, and gas). Other orchestras use only 2 states of matter: solid (percussion and strings), and gas (wind instruments).

The hydraulophone is an acoustic instrument played by covering up water spray jets to play music. Acoustic hydraulophones are often fitted with underwater microphones (hydrophones) and some are also fitted with a MIDI interface, so that water spray jets can be used as controllers. The main fountain out in front of the Ontario Science Centre in Toronto is a hydraulophone.

Playing Bach on a water fountain (Hydraulophone is a pipe organ that runs on water instead of air). This is a low resolution, earlier version of the video. High resolution and more nicely edited version seems to take a long time to play on YouTube. It can be downloaded from http://wearcam.org or seen on Google Videos (seems that Google Videos automatically converts incoming video to format that can play quickly on all browsers).

You play it by blocking the water jets in various ways, which forces the hydraulic fluid (water) into the sound-producing mechanism in various ways. It works alot like a pipe organ, except that it uses water instead of air.

"Nessie", the cute musical sea serpent, returns! The main centerpiece in front of the Ontario Science Centre is a water-pipe organ flute (hydraulophone) fountain. Actually, two of them: the North Nessie and the South Nessie, which you hear at different times in the video.
