The AP's David melendy reports on that and the rest of Wednesday's business headlines. (Aug 6)AP Money MinuteMortgage financier has Freddie Mac has reported an $821 million second-quarter loss. The decrease of one dollar and sixty-three cents per share was more than three-times larger than Wall Street expected. The dismal results come just weeks after the government threw a financial lifeline to Freddie and its sister company Fannie Mae to ward off fears the pair could collapse and take down the U.S. mortgage market. ------------------------------Connecticut is suing Countrywide Financial, alleging it misled borrowers into taking on risky home loans they could not afford. The state alleges the mortgage giant violated its consumer protection laws and charged unjustified fees to homeowners who defaulted. California, Illinois and Florida have filed similar lawsuits against the lender, whose shareholders recently approved a takeover by Bank of America.---------------------------------Retailers are preparing for a difficult back-to-school season and are aggressively slashing prices and amping up marketing in the battle for parents' bucks. Just how skittish shoppers are feeling will be seen tomorrow when many retailers report their July sales for stores open at least a year. A weak back-to-school season may signal trouble for the all-important holiday season, which begins not long afterward.-----------------------I'm David Melendy with AP Money Minute ___ ___, The Associated Press.

Radio 1990 was a thirty-minute program during primetime that ran on weekdays on USA network. The program ran somewhere in the 1982 to 1986 time frame and was hosted by Lisa Robinson and Kathryn Kinley. Apparently Lisa Robinson was the original host and then became an interviewer/reporter after Kathryn Kinley was brought in.

CLASSIC FREDDIE! This is from 1962 with Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers. The rest of the band is Wayne Shorter, Curtis Fuller, Cedar Walton, and Reggie Workman. Freddie was just 24 here, and plays his ass off!

From the 1987 Mt. Fuji Jazz Festival - with James Spaulding, alto sax; Renee Rosnes, piano; Kenny Davis, bass; Ralph Peterson, drums. Check out the first few choruses of Freddie's solo, the rhythm section is all over the place on the form and Freddie vibes the hell out of them! It's hilarious... Poor Renee is the last one back on track, he shoots her a glare that could shatter glass. To quote the man himself, "It's not that easy to play with Freddie Hubbard... ain't that hard either!"

"Under Pressure" is a 1981 song by Queen and David Bowie. It marked Queen's first released collaboration with another recording artist, and is featured on their 1982 album Hot Space. The song was a hit at the time, reaching #1 in the UK singles chart. The song evolved from a jam session the band had with Bowie at its studio in Montreux, Switzerland, therefore it was credited as co-written by the five musicians. According to Queen bassist John Deacon (as quoted in a French magazine in 1984), however, the song's primary musical songwriter was Freddie Mercury — though all contributed to the arrangement. An earlier, embryonic version of the song without Bowie called "Feel Like" is widely available in bootleg form. Queen guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor have credited the bass riff to Deacon; Bowie also said on his website that the bassline was already written before he became involved. Bowie had originally come to the studios in order to sing backing vocals in another Queen song, "Cool Cat," which would end up being edited out since he wasn't satisfied with them. Once he got there, they jammed for a while and wrote the song. Very nice song sung by the great Freddie Mercury and nicely played by Queen.
