Great news for all Mario Frangoulis fans in the UK!.
On September 19th Mario will be performing work from his own internationally acclaimed albums alongside some old favourites. Accompanied by the National Symphony Orchestra, this one-off performance will take the audience on a journey across the globe with a truly international repertoire of music.
In an evening full of surprises, Mario will be joined onstage by an eclectic mix of exceptional musicians and singers including international superstar (and Mario's co-star in the film De Lovely) LARA FABIAN, and the sensational soprano, NATASHA MARSH. A highly regarded performer in both opera and oratorio, Natasha's debut album, Amour, went to No 1 in the classical chart, and her stunning recording of Mozart's Queen of the Night aria from The Magic Flute brought her a wider audience this Summer, when ITV chose it as their theme music for football's Euro 2008. Mario will also be joined by JUSTIN HAYWARD of the Moody Blues as he re-creates their unique orchestral version of Nights In White Satin (Notte de Luce), and another old friend and collaborator, musical sensation STEVE BALSAMO, who shot to fame for his title role in Jesus Christ Superstar.
Mario Frangoulis is a tenor of the 21st century, with the ability to sing everything from a West End show-stopper to an operatic aria. His live performances are electric, and through his charisma, unparalleled vocal talent and immaculate interpretation, he reaches across boundaries of language and musical style (opera, pop, folk, world) and touches his audiences. As a result he has successfully collaborated with artists such as Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras, Justin Hayward and Alejandro Fernandez and many more.
At 17 Mario moved from his native Greece to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where, having won the coveted Maria Callas Prize, he was spotted by Cameron Mackintosh who cast him as Marius in Les Misérables. Soon after, Andrew Lloyd Webber invited Mario to play Raoul in The Phantom of the Opera, which he did to much acclaim, going on to one of the great homes of opera, making his debut at La Scala, Milan as Tony in West Side Story. He has since established himself as one of the world's best loved and most versatile tenors.
