Comfort women (Japanese: 慰安婦, ianfu?) or military comfort women (Japanese: 従軍慰安婦, jūgun-ianfu?) is a euphemism for the up to 200,000 women who were forced to serve in the Japanese army's brothels during World War II. Historians and researchers into the subject have stated that the majority were from Korea, China and other occupied territories and were recruited by force or deception to serve as "sex slaves."[

위안부(慰安婦)는 제2차 세계대전 동안 일본군의 성적 욕구를 해소하기 위하여, 강제·집단적으로 수용되어 성적인 행위를 강요당한 여성을 말한다. 위안부의 대부분은 일본인과 조선인이었으며, 중국인과 대만인도 희생당하였다. 그밖에 필리핀, 타이, 베트남, 말레이시아, 인도네시아 등 일본이 점령한 국가 출신의 여성들도 일본군에 의해 희생되었다. 생존한 사람들은 그들이 하루에 30번 이상 강간당했다고 증언하였다. 위안부라는 단어 자체는 1973년 이전에는 존재하지 않았고, 그 해에 출판된 《종군위안부(従軍慰安婦)》(센다 가고(千田夏光) 지음)라는 소설에 처음 등장했다. 이것에 대해서 일본의 일부에서는 위안부의 일본군에 의한 강제 연행을 인정하지 않고 있다. 1992년부터 서울 종로구 일본 대사관 앞에서는 매주 수요시위가 열린다.........

Jugun ianfu (従軍慰安婦) adalah istilah yang digunakan untuk merujuk kepada wanita penghibur (bahasa Inggris: "comfort women") yang terlibat dalam perbudakan seks selama Perang Dunia II di koloni Jepang dan wilayah perang.
Jugun ianfu merupakan wanita yang dipaksa untuk menjadi pemuas kebutuhan seksual tentara Jepang yang ada di Indonesia dan juga di negara-negara jajahan Jepang lainnya pada kurun waktu tahun 1942-1945.........
