Jogou a tarrafa, errou o cardume.
Abriu a garrafa, ascendeu o vagalume,
O canto da sereia sob a lua cheia
fez sua cabeça dar uma volta e meia.
Saiu no seu barco em direçao ao mar,
levantou o pano e começou a rezar,
pediu abenção à Yemanjá,
e sabia que nada o faria pescar.
Mas queria ajuda pra moça encontrar.
Aquela que canta e encanta seu mar.
Uma luz ele viu e uma voz ele ouviu,
E a deusa das águas de imediato surgiu.
Trazia consigo um anzol e uma linha,
nas ondas sonoras do canto que vinha,
do manto de espuma que abre a bruma
e fisga o amor no peito do pescador.

He opened the bottle, the glow-worm lighted,
The song of the mermaid under the full moon
Made his head give one turn and a half.
He went out on his boat towards the sea,
He lifted the cloth and began to pray,
He asked protection to Yemanjá,
and he knew that nothing would make him fish.
But he wanted help to find the girl .
whot sings and bewitches his seas.
A light he saw and a voice he heard,
And the goddess of the waters immediately appeared.
She was bringing with her a fish hook and a line,
in the sound waves of the singing that was coming
of the mantle of foam that opens the mist
and catches the love in the chest of the fisherman.
