Initially, Cyrus declared herself happy with the shot, declaring it "really artsy". But she has had a change of heart now that the picture is in the public domain. "I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed. I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologise to my fans who I care so deeply about," she said in a statement. Executives at the Disney Channel are said to be furious about the shot, which is a far cry from the star's usual squeaky-clean image. A spokesman for the network said: "Unfortunately, as the article suggests, a situation was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines." But Vanity Fair defended its position, saying: "Miley's parents and/or minders were on the set all day. Since the photo was taken digitally, they saw it on the shoot and everyone thought it was a beautiful and natural portrait of Miley." Hi, it's Wednesday, June 11, 2008 and I'm Melisse Hinkle with your UPI Entertainment Update. Shia LaBeouf is reportedly embarrassed about a YouTube video that shows him saying a derogatory term. In the video, LaBeouf apparently uses a gay slur toward his friend during a slapping contest at a house party. The actor's rep says the video was produced a few years ago. YouTube has since removed the clip, which was circulating earlier this week. That's all according to an exclusive E! News report. Meanwhile, Paul Newman's agent is denying rumors that the actor is suffering from lung cancer. Newman apparently stepped away from a directing engagement last month due to an illness. Talk of serious health complications increased when photos of a gaunt-looking Newman surfaced at the end of last week. Anne Hathaway's boyfriend is running into some legal trouble with his charity. Raffaello Follieri's philanthropic organization is being investigated by the New York State Attorney General. The investigation reportedly stems from the businessman's failure to keep adequate financial documentation for the charity. The Follieri Foundation helps bring vaccines to poor children in developing countries. Hathaway was on the board of directors until last year, but her rep says she's not involved. Follieri dodged separate charges in April for bouncing a $215,000 check. Marissa Jaret Winokur is apparently playing catch up on preparations for her baby boy's arrival. The Tony award-winner says she thought she'd get kicked off "Dancing With the Stars" early on, but her lengthy run on the show set her back. A surrogate is carrying the baby for Winokur, who had a hysterectomy during her battle with cervical cancer. The little one is due July 22. Coldplay's North American tour has reportedly been pushed back. The band will take its show on the road two weeks later than expected because of production setbacks. Their first show is now scheduled to take place on July 14 in Los Angeles. Fans can get refunds for canceled dates or use their tickets for different shows. Previously scheduled free concerts are still set to go on this month in London, Barcelona and New York. Coldplay's fourth album hits stores on June 17. That's all according to Billboard. Singer Britney Spears says she's embarrassed by her performance on MTV's Video Music Awards Sunday night. She added that she was quote "just plain nervous." Spears continues to be criticized for that opening act. Spears lip-synched through her latest single, "Gimme More," and didn't move much. In the past, Spears has delivered memorable performances on the VMAs, dancing with a snake and making out with Madonna. Meanwhile, Kid Rock is required to make a court appearance in a few weeks after he reportedly punched Tommy Lee at the VMAs. Pamela Anderson has been married to both rockers who have feuded in the past. It was unclear how the fight started, but security guards were quick to respond. Kid Rock was issued a citation for misdemeanor battery. And Justin Timberlake is giving props to singer Chris Brown after his energetic dancing on the VMAs. Among many routines, Brown did a rendition of Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" performance. When Timberlake walked on stage to accept an award, he said he was happy that there was a new generation of musicians carrying the torch. He also added that Brown made him feel old! Actor Kirk Douglas is promoting his new book, "Let's Face it: 90 Years of Living, Loving and Learning." He greeted fans at Border's Books in New York yesterday before signing copies. This is Douglas' fourth book, which describes his love for his wife, children, grandchildren and two dogs. The 90-year-old has appeared in 70 films and has been nominated for an Academy Award three times. Comic actress Sherri Shepard has officially taken over as a panelist on ABC's "The View." She earned a standing ovation as she took the stage yesterday. Shepard joins new moderator Whoopi Goldberg for the show's 11 season. That's all for now.
