http://www.iranchamber.com/culture/articles/croatians_cravats_iranian_origin.php http://www.iranchamber.com/history/articles/identity_croatians_ancient_iran.php The Iranic or Irano-Aryan race as a whole is dolichocephalic (long-headed), leptorrhine (having long, narrow noses), tall, robust, dark-haired, large-boned and fair-skinned with straight hair. These features are found amongst the Jats, Pathans, Persians, Rajputs and Kurds. Due to the common features of Iranic skeletons with Nordics, some authorities consider the Nordics and Iranics as belonging to a common Nordic-Iranian macro-race. It is a further strong support for the Iranic origin of Croats that the Croats, and indeed, West Slavs in general, display strong Iranic racial features. Thus, the majority of Croatians today tend to be tall statured, with narrow facial features. Many historians consider these western Slavic features to be a trait passed on from the Iranic tribes mentioned above. The Alans in particular are thought to have had considerable impact on the Croatian racial "type". Now, there are three sub-types of Croats proper: Dinaric (Iranoid race), Mediterranean (Latinoid race) and Panonian (Slavoid race) The Dinaric type to which many Croats belong is often viewed as an Iranic sub-type: In the central mountainous regions settled by the Croats upon their arrival on the Adriatic the Dinaric type of Croat developed. This type is quite remote from the general Slavic type. The Dinaric Croats are tall in stature (ca. 1.8 metres), long-headed but with a skull of short circumference (cephalic index of 80-85)." (Mandic 1970, ch.3) The main feature of the Dinaric sub-type of Iranics is that the head is long when viewed from front, but the circumference is short, giving the illusion of brachcephaly when viewed from the top. It is common amongst Armenians as well, and is often viewed as a breeding isolate of the Iranoid race.

The greatest concentration point of Dinarics proper in Europe is the mountain zone from the Tyrol to Albania. The name (Dinaric) derives from the Dinaric Alps (the western part of the Balkan Peninsula). Several theories were postulated regarding the genesis of the Dinaric 'race' and most of them agreed that this 'race' was autochthonous to its present habitat from the Neolithic. Carleton Coon, in The Origin of Races (1962), argued that the Dinarics were a specific type that arose from ancient mixes of the Mediterranean 'race' and Alpine 'race'. There are 'classic' Dinarics and Norics (mixed with nordish types). Geographical distribution of the 'classic' Dinaric type (estimate): Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro and Bosnia 70%,Romania 30%Czech Republic and Slovakia 25% Austria 20%Hungary 20% Italy 20%France 15% Switzerland 15%Bulgaria 15%Greece 15%Poland 10%Ukraine 10%Germany 5%Russia and Belarus 5%Spain 5% (most common among Basque). Because, even members of the same family are often of different phenotypes. Based on analysis of Y-Chromosome haplogroups it can be determine the origins of a person (or group of persons) who carry a specific haplogroup. All persons of a certain haplogroup (for example R1b) share the same origins. A Spaniard and an Irishman are (genetically) more similar themselves than the Spaniard and a Greek, despite the Spaniard and the Greek seem "mediterranean" and the Irishman seems "nordic". Most Spaniards and Irishman (over 80%) belong to haplogroup R1b. The results of genetic researches that were done in Croatia in the last few years do not support the 'Iranian origin theory'. watch part III...

It is often claimed that Italians, especially those from the South of the country, have substantial Middle Eastern and African admixture acquired during Roman times and the Moorish occupation. However, data from anthropology shows a prehistoric origin for the Mediterranean elements in Italy, and detects no Negroid influence there whatsoever. Genetic research confirms this, showing that both sub-Saharan and Arab-Berber admixture are negligible. The differences between Northern and Southern Italians have also been greatly exaggerated for political reasons. "Italy, one of the most clearly demarcated geographical units in Europe, is a country of considerable [sub]racial variability. Although the Mediterranean race is strongly represented in it, Italy belongs only partially to the Mediterranean world, for much of it is more typically Alpine racial territory. ... The primary racial impulse of the early Neolithic, however, is known. This was the immigration of small Mediterraneans in great numbers, coming largely if not entirely by sea; these first food-producers were followed by more competent navigators, Atlanto-Mediterraneans, who settled chiefly in the north and in the islands, and Dinarics from the eastern Mediterranean in search of metal. Some of the Dinarics penetrated the Alpine Valleys while others settled in the Po Valley and in central Italy. The movement of highly cultured peoples from the east into Italy continued into historic times, and included the settlement of the Etruscans in Tuscany, and of the Greeks in Sicily and in the southern end of the peninsula. "...through her role as mistress of the world, Rome accumulated and assimilated a heterogeneous population. That this population was by no means purely or even predominantly Mediterranean is shown by the study of the skulls of Pompeians, victims of the eruption which turned their city from a metropolis into a museum. These crania, with a mean cranial index of 80, represent a population which had acquired a [sub]racial character of its own despite its mixed origin, and in which the Alpine element was the most important. ... A series of 100 modern crania from Bologna, with a mean cranial index of 83.5, is almost purely Alpo-Dinaric, with the latter element in a position of prominence. The Dinaric race is common in northern, but not southern Italy, and this distinction has been true since the Bronze Age. "In other words, the southern Italians are a blend for the most part of Alpines and small Mediterraneans, while among the northern Italians the most important dolichocephalic strain is the Atlanto-Mediterranean. The association of relatively great blondism with brachycephaly merely indicates that both Alpines and Dinarics are characteristically mixed or intermediate in pigmentation. The few unaltered Nordics still found in northern Italy and in aristocratic families elsewhere are far outnumbered by Atlanto-Mediterraneans. ... The binding element which is common to all sections is the Alpine, which has reemerged from obscure beginnings through a superstructure composed of Dinaric, Nordic, and various kinds of Mediterranean accretions."

Dorians were very tall and very warlike. Ancient pictures of Dorian Spartans contained in them warriors with dark hair with reddish tone. Also they had tribal order, blood feuds, and possessed 'lyra' . (it is possible that the region Illyria was named after lyra and first time the name Illyria was mentioned was in 4 - th century BC). According to Hellenic mythology name Illyrians is derived from the son of Cadmus and Harmonia - Illyrius. The ruler of Dorians represented both a spiritual leader and a military leader. According to the legend Dorians got their name from one of the Helen's sons called Dorus. Some of the Dorians attacked South Greece from the direction of Macedonia, south Illyria and Epirus in 12 and 11 cen.BC . They took islands of Crete, Dodecanese and other Aegean islands also Lakonia, Argolis, and Korintos in the Peloponesos peninsula. Famous Sparta was a Doric settlement. Soutn Illyrians (original Illyrians, Ardideans, belong to southern Illyrians) are descendants of earlier Dorians and first time are mentioned in recorded history in 4 cen.BC. Modern history informs us that the earliest Illyrian ruler was called Hylus who lived around 12 cen.BC . His name is identical with the name of one of the major three Dorian tribes which invaded south Greece from the direction of Macedonia and Illyria in the same time frame (12,11cen.BC). Ancient Macedonians considered Illyrians and Thracians as their close kin. "Races of Europe" Carlton S. Coon Chapter 12:The living Races 1939 -Coon: on Slavicized Albanians of Montenegro: `The Montenegrins, who are the tallest people in Europe... are linguistically Serbs, but there can be no question that they are to a large extent Slavicized Albanians; the cultural continuity between the two peoples is striking, the only real differences being those of language and religion`. `Races of Europe' Carlton S. Coon Chapter 14:The Greeks 1939 "Coon on Sphakiot , Montenegrin and Ghegh Albanian similarities: `One special group, the Sphakiots, living near the western end of the south side of the island, differ from the other Cretans in a number of characters; they are very tall, with a mean stature of 175 cm., and meso- to sub-brachycephalic, with a mean cephalic index of 81.6... Morphologically Dinaric types are common among them; they may be compared with Montenegrins and the northernmost Ghegs`. Coon on the Dorian Greeks and the Sphakiots: `According to the general assumption of authorities on Crete, the Sphakioti are the partial descendants of the Dorians who invaded the island at the end of the Minoan period. That some of them do resemble the traditional Spartan type is very likely. One can only derive them from the north, from the region in which the larger branch of the Dinaric race was formed`. NOTES: If Coon states that Sphakiots are descendants of Dorians and that they're `racially` identical to Montenegrins and Ghegh Albanians -- right after also stating that Montenegrins are just Slavicized Albanians -- Coon is indirectly supporting an Albanian origin for the Dorian Greeks! Probably the most ancient helmet design still used in Greece at the time of the Persian Wars was the Illyrian. The origins of this helmet trace back the ancient Mycenians sometime in the late 2nd millennia BC, making it the "grand-daddy" of all Greek helmets. While its ancestry is venerable, the actual Illyrian style did not appear until 7th century BC. The Corinthian is related to the Illyrian, differing slightly in method of construction and configuration. Instead of using a single piece of bronze, early Illyrian helmets were manufactured by pounding two pieces of bronze into the desired shape and then welded together on the crown, the seam often being covered by a crest holder. Later a single sheet of bronze was used, resulting in a heavy helmet that gave excellent protection to the head and cheeks. Configuration-wise the Illyrian was extremely similar to the Corinthian except that it had an open face with no nasal bar and smaller cheek guards. As with the Corinthian, the Illyrian style helmet rendered the wearer deaf and (as with the former) the Illyrian was also modified to allow for the ears to protrude outside the helmet. The Illyrian had become rare in the ranks by the time of Alexander the Great.

Croatian gusle legend, MILE KRAJINA, performs in front of thousands spectators during Croatian Independence Day celebrations. LOCATION: Zagreb (Jarun), Croatia DATE: May 30, 1990. LANGUAGE: Croatian Krajina sings about "ban" Josip Jelačić, (Croatian military hero from the 19th century) and the Communist attempts to remove his monument from the Zagreb Central Square after WWII. Dear Croatian brothers and sisters, let's promote our forgotten Croatian gusle tradition. Just think of Andrija Kačić Miošić, Grga Martić, Mihovil Pavlinović, Jakov Gotovac, or the names of our sports clubs - Hajduk, Junak, Gusar, Uskok, knightly tournament Sinjska Alka... This is our holy Croatian - Dinaric - culture (embodied in our Croatian traditional gusle instrument) which has always been in the forefront of the Croatian liberation movement, a compelling token of nationhood and justice. ************* Legendarni hrvatski guslar Mile Krajina rođen je 1923. godine u Cetinskoj krajini (Dalmacija). Unatoč poodmaklim godinama Krajina je još uvijek aktivan i dobro gusli. U slobodnoj Hrvatskoj državi, Krajina izdaje tri nove knjige pjesama: Mile Krajina: "Vukovar brane vitezovi" (1994) Mile Krajina: "Hrvatske pobjede" (1998) Mile Krajina: "Hrvatski vitezovi, prijatelji i događaji" (2001) Osim gore rečenih knjiga Krajina je do sada izdao i 11 audio kazeta i 4 CD-a. Neretva (italien. Narenta)is a river in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia. The total length is 225 km, of which 203 km are in Herzegovina, while the final 22 km are in the Dubrovnik-Neretva county of Croatia. The upper stream of Neretva has water of Class A purity and is almost certainly the coldest river water in the world, often as low as 7-8 degrees Celsius in the summer months. Neretva also has some endemic and very delicate, fragile life forms that are near extinction. Neretva originates deep in the Dinaric Alps and flows through them creating a large gorge. It eventually expands into a wide valley which provides valuable agricultural land. There exists a large accumulation lake near Jablanica, created on the Neretva and at least three hydroelectric dams between Jablanica and Mostar. The Bosnian government has recently made serious plans to allow foreign investors to build several more dams in upper stream and destroy the canyon by flooding it. This is protested by environmentalists who wish for the canyon, considered at least as beautiful as the Tara canyon in the nearby Montenegro, to remain untouched as it has been so far. . The smaller rivers of Rakitnica, Rama and Trebižat flow into Neretva from the right, while Buna and Bregava flow into it from the left. The last 30 km of Neretva's stream form an alluvial delta, before the river empties into the Adriatic Sea. The biggest city on the Neretva is Mostar. Other towns on the Neretva include Konjic, Metković, Jablanica, Čapljina as well as the historical village of Počitelj. The Old Bridge (also Stari most), a major architectural monument over Neretva in Mostar and a World Heritage Site, was destroyed by Croatian shelling during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina on November 9, 1993. The bridge was rebuilt and the grand opening was held on July 23, 2004..

Medieval Croatia. Croatia Info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Croatia - The Croats settled on the east coast of the Adriatic Sea and the Pannonian lands in early 7th century, forming two principalities, Dalmatia and Pannonia. The establishment of the Trpimirović dynasty ca. 850 brought strengthening to the Dalmatian Croat duchy, which became a kingdom in 925. -The origin of the Croatian tribe before the great migration of the Slavs is uncertain. According to the most widely accepted[27] Slavic theory of the 7th century, the Croatian tribe moved from the area north of the Carpathians and east of the river Vistula (referred to as White Croatia) and migrated into the western Dinaric Alps. White Croats formed the Principality of Dalmatia in the upper Adriatic. Another wave of Slavic migrants from White Croatia subsequently founded the Principality of Pannonia. -Croatia is located between South-Central Europe and Middle Europe. Its shape resembles that of a crescent or a horseshoe, which flanks its neighbours Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. To the north lie Slovenia and Hungary; Italy lies across the Adriatic Sea. Its mainland territory is split in two non-contiguous parts by the short coastline of Bosnia and Herzegovina around Neum.

Etymology and evolving meaning. The ancient Greek name for the Balkan Peninsula is the Peninsula of Haemus. The region takes its name from the Balkan Mountains which run through the centre of Bulgaria into eastern Serbia. The region takes its name from the "Balkan" mountain range in Bulgaria (from the Turkish balkan meaning "a chain of wooded mountains"). The name is still preserved in Central Asia where there exist the Balkan Mountains and the Balkan Province of Turkmenistan. On a larger scale, one long continuous chain of mountains crosses the region in the form of a reversed letter S, from the Carpathians south to the Balkan range proper, before it marches away east into Anatolian Turkey. On the west coast, an offshoot of the Dinaric Alps follows the coast south through Dalmatia and Albania, crosses Greece and continues into the sea in the form of various islands. The word was based on Turkish balakan 'stone, cliff', which confirms the pure 'technical' meaning of the term. The mountain range that runs across Bulgaria from west to east (Stara Planina) is still commonly known as the Balkan Mountains. The first time the name "Balkan" was used in the West for the mountain range in Bulgaria was in a letter by Buonaccorsi Callimarco, an Italian humanist, writer and diplomat in 1490. An English traveler, John Morritt, introduced this term into the English literature at the end of the 18th century, and other authors started applying the name to the wider area between the Adriatic and the Black Sea. The concept of the "Balkan peninsula" was created by the German geographer August Zeune in 1808. I decided to create this video as a journey inside the rich historical, cultural and traditional values that every person who came from this area conserve in their souls in a line where Westen and Orientalism waves form a melting point, gifting us a deep great treasures that all the world envy (who badly talks about us) and admire (who really appreciate this magic lands). Althought greeks, serbians, bosnians, turks, albanians, macedonians, bulgarians, rumanians are divided for some politcal reasons. The culture, the tradition, the habits, the dishes unite us. This film is made against all enemies of Albania who disinform people in youtube with their hate against Albanians: Albania and Albanians origin is mostly Alpine race(named Alban) mixed with the Mediterranean race and some other different tribes that moved from Asia,Middle East and Africa. Nordic people are just Alpineans(Albanians) who lost in the cold the pigment in their skin and hair, but the DNA shows that they are of the Great Alpine Race which moved from Caucasus and Asia(Mongolia)to Europe and created all European natons. But still Mediterranean Sea connection is another root and for that North and South Albania are different.North maybe be Alpine root and South may be Pelasgian of Mediterran.

Tara National Park covers an area of 19.175 hectares including Mt.Tara,Crni Vrh,Zvezda ,Stolac, the Canyon of Drina with Perucac and outskirts of Bajina Basta. These mountains are the eastern branches of the Dinaric System with similar structure and direction northwest-southeast were the Drina cut a deep and picturesque canyon valley. In geomorphologic sense the whole area of Tara National Park is composed of mountain hills and elevations. The average altitude is 1000-1200 m. The highest peak is Kozji rid with 1591 m above sea level. The hills are clad in dense forest and grass vegetation, wich makes possible the existence of variety of games. Spots with a beautiful view over the whole area are especially attractive for tourists and mountain climbers. Such scenery is particularly impressive and is remembered for a long time. The best known views are Banjska stena at Mitrovac, Biljeska Stena 6 km from Predov Krst,Crnjeskovo at Kaludjerske Bare, Omar, Zboriste. Waterfalls within the national park are also part of its impressive beauty alog the course of mountain rivers and streams. The most attractive waterfalls are in Perucac under Tara, called Mali nad Veliki Skakavac on River Rzav and some bigger and smaller cascades on the rivers Rzav, Derventa and Raca. The wonderful canyon of Drina river (700-1000m deep) is second in Yugoslavia after the Canyon of Tara river (1300m) in Monte Nagro and third in the world after the Grand Canyon of the Colorado river (1800m) in America. The vertical cliffs of Canyon of the Drina River and its tributaries are particularly interesting for the mountain hangers and alpinists.

Lake Ohrid (Macedonian: Охридско Езеро, Ohridsko Ezero. Straddles the mountainous border between the southwestern region of Macedonia and eastern Albania. It is probably the oldest lake in Europe, preserving a unique aquatic ecosystem with more than 200 endemic species that is of worldwide importance. The importance of the lake was further emphasized when it was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1979. However, human activity on the lake shores and in its catchment area is resulting in the ecosystem coming under stress.Lake Ohrid is the deepest lake of the Balkans, with a maximum depth of 288 m (940 ft) and a mean depth of 155 m (508 ft). It covers an area of 358 km² (138 sq mi), containing an estimated 55.4 km³ of water. It is 30.4 km long by 14.8 km wide at its maximum extent with a shoreline length of 87.53 km, shared between Macedonia (56.02 km) and Albania (31.51 km). Lake Ohrid and the Prespa Lakes belong to a group of Dessaret basins that originated from a geotectonic depression during the Pliocene epoch up to five million years ago on the western side of the Dinaric Alps. Worldwide, there are only a few lakes with similarly remote origins with Lake Baikal and Lake Tanganyika being the most famous. Most other, short-lived lakes have a life span of less than 100,000 years before they are eventually filled up with sediments. It is believed that in the case of Lake Ohrid this process was delayed by its large depth and small sediment input from filtered spring inflows. Moreover the Ohrid-Korca graben to the south of the lake is still tectonically active and might compensate sedimentation by subduction. Contrary to Lake Ohrid, Lake Prespa is likely to have turned dry several times in its history, as a result of its karstic underground.
