The Cosmic Lounge presents Deep House Music: 'Otill' by Aril Brikha. "Aril Brikha (1976-) is a producer from Stockholm (though born in Teheran, Iran) who initially discovered electronic music listening to the likes of Depeche Mode, Front 242 and Jean Michel Jarre before discovering the more futuristic sounds of people like Robert Hood and Underground Resistance. When not getting any respond in the native country he sent a demo to some of his favourite record labels stateside. Before he knew it Derrick May released The Art Of Vengeance EP featuring the track Groove La Chord on his Fragile record label in 1998, and was playing it all around the world. This was followed by the release of the Deeparture In Time album also on Transmat. TAICOCLUB presents So Very Show! デトロイトのテクノオリジネイター達も認めたARIL BRIKHAが3年ぶりにWOMBに帰還 　 【ACTS】 [LIVE]ARIL BRIKHA（ART OF VENGEANCE, PEACEFROG, TRANSMAT ） [DJ]MOODMAN AND MORE 　 2008/04/25(Fri) @ WOMB 　 ■ARIL BRIKHA ストックホルム在住、1976年生まれ。イラン、アッシリア人の家系に生まれ、3歳でスウェーデンに移住。幼いときから音楽的才能を発揮、7歳の時に父親にキーボードを与えられ弾き方を習い、すぐに耳で音調、音色を覚えていったという。10代前半になると、デペッシュ・モード、フロント242、ジャン・ミシェル・ジャールとい ったエレクトロニック・ミュージックに興味を持ち、アタリ・コンピューターとシーケンサーを使い、音楽制作の道を歩みだす。ある日、友人はアリルの曲とデトロイト・テクノに共通点を見出し、ロバート・フッドとベーシック・チャンネルを聴かせた。その後、アリルはアンダーグラウンド・レジスタンスのような未来的なサウ ンドに出会い、さらに本格的に楽曲制作にのめりこむ。90年代にスウェディッシュ・テクノがミニマルなループをベースにした＜DJツール＞として確立されたときも、アリルはエモーショナルかつスピリチュアルな＜音楽＞を目指した。そして98年、アリルの才能がデリック・メイに認められ開花する。「Groove la' Chode」を収録したシングル「Art of Vengeance EP」が＜トランスマット＞のサブ・レーベル＜フラジャイル＞からリリースされ、世界的な大ヒットを記録。2000年にはアルバム『Departure In Time』を＜トランスマット＞からリリー スした。その後ライブ活動をスタート。デトロイト・テクノをベースに、ソウルやファンクのエッセンスをちりばめたセットはデトロイト、ロンドン、東京などで高い評価を受けている。2007年からは制作活動が活発化、「Winter EP」を＜コンパクト＞、「Akire EP」を＜ポーカー・フラット＞からリリースし、今後の活躍に注目が集まっている。
