Es increíble ver cómo patina sobre el hielo soportanto cargas de más de 100 kilos. Es un encargo del DARPA americano a la empresa Boston Dynamics para enviarlo como apoyo a Irak. Pronto llegarán allí también miles de mandos de la Wii, que serán usados por los soldados para controlar a otro robot, el Packbot, una máquina detectora de minas y explosivos bastante eficaz.

BigDog is being developed by Boston Dynamics with help from Foster Miller, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and the Harvard University Concord Field Station.Development is funded by the DARPA Defense Sciences Office.

The Rugged Robot that Devours Rough Terrain RHex is a man-portable robot with extraordinary rough terrain mobility. RHex climbs over rock fields, mud, sand, vegetation, railroad tracks, telephone poles and up steep slopes and stairways. RHex has a sealed body, making it fully operational in wet weather, in muddy and swampy conditions, and it can swim on the surface or dive underwater. RHex's remarkable terrain capabilities have been validated in independent testing at US Government Labs. RHex is controlled remotely from an operator control unit at distances up to 600 meters. A video uplink provides front and rear views from RHex's onboard cameras. RHex also uplinks navigational data from onboard compass and GPS and from payload sensors. Our Pygmy goat kids use "their" livestock guardian dog; 140 lb. Great Pyrenees, "Buran" as a play toy - and he puts up with their antics with great patience. "Buran" loves his little charges and would protect them with his life if necessary. Btw, "Jazz" & "Jitterbug" are now 9-weeks-old. Little "Rocky" is almost six weeks old. Time sure flies!
