Jackson, Arthur lead Jayhawks to win over BC: No. 3 Kansas put everything together for a little more than 12 minutes on Saturday and that was plenty to pull away and beat Boston College. Darnell Jackson scored 12 of his 25 points during a 33-8 run that turned a tie game into a blowout, adding nine rebounds in front of a surprisingly supportive road crowd to lead No. 3 Kansas to an 85-60 victory over Boston College. "If we keep playing like that, and keep our energy up, there's no way we can be stopped," Jackson said. Darrell Arthur added 22 points and seven rebounds for Kansas, which won its first 14 games for the sixth time in school history. The Jayhawks remained one of six unbeaten teams in the nation with one game left before next week's Big 12 opener against Nebraska. "If our big guys play like that, our guards are good enough to put them in position to get easy baskets," coach Bill Self said. "I think the pieces are there for us to have a big year." Rakim Sanders scored 21 and Tyrese Rice had 20 as Boston College (10-3) failed in its first game against a ranked opponent this season. The Eagles had the game tied at 22 before giving up 33 of the next 41 points. "They basically showed us how hard you have to play to be a great team," Rice said. "We just didn't match their intensity from beginning to end. That should be like a wake-up call for us. I think we have to do that for a whole 40 minutes, and not 10 or 20." BC went on a 10-2 run early in the second half to cut a 25-point deficit to 17, but couldn't get any closer than 14 points. Kansas held a 39-24 edge in rebounding and outscored BC in the paint 54-26. "That's just God-given talent for them," BC coach Al Skinner said. "When someone is faster than you, they're just faster than you. That's the reality you have to accept. Athletics is like that some times." Kansas, whose first team was coached by James Naismith seven years after he invented the game in Springfield, Mass., made its first trip to Boston College and first visit to Massachusetts since 1999. The sold-out crowd of 8,606 included a large contingent of Jayhawks fans, who were able to increasingly drown out the home cheers as the game wore on and the BC supporters headed for the exits. BC stayed close for about 12 minutes before Kansas went on a 25-7 run to finish out the first half. Jackson scored eight in the span, and Mario Chalmers' consecutive 3-pointers gave the Jayhawks their first double-digit lead of the game, 36-24 with 4:11 left. The Eagles then never got closer than 10. Kansas also scored eight of the first nine points of the second half and went on an 8-0 run after an odd near-skirmish between Chalmers and Sanders that was quickly broken up by the referee.
