Over 1000 watts drive this A/V system, and only the highest quality components are used in it. I built the sub woofers and satellite speakers. Power comes from a dedicated 30 amp line run direct from the fuse panel. The dual subs go down to 20 hz. The system produces a steady 250 watts RMS, and pure class A amplification up to 40 watts. The amplifiers are extremely stable. They can drive very difficult impedence loads without breaking up. The satellite speakers are three way. I use a foam strip on the outside face of each speaker to reduce the amount of refraction from the walls. The drivers are Seas and Tonegan brands, made in Finland. They sound very natural, but also can rock with incredible clarity. I like the natural sound of Wilson speakers so that was my benchmark when making these. I used software available at Madisound.com to design the cabinet geometry, cross-overs, and driver selections. Each sub is in a 3.5 litre cabinet, and they are Tonegan 12 inch drivers. They produce down to 20 Hz, which is nearly subsonic range. Thanks for stopping by.

These are two Paradigm Atom Monitor (v.5) speakers that I just purchased. I have them hooked to a Denon DRA-397 Stereo Receiver with Audioquest speaker cables. My source is my computer using an Audiotrak Prodigy HD2 soundcard. I use Winamp and the Mad decoder along with kernel streamer plugin (to bypass windows K-mixer) and FLAC lossless compression codec. The result is an outrageously detailed sound for even the most meager of budgets. Song is "Me and Mrs. Jones" By Michael Buble. I apologize for the dark recording, This was shot with my point and shoot camera. Discussion is welcome!

I know there are many avenues to take with inexpensive audiophile systems, this is just one route. Discussion is encouraged! A few more pieces of info: My sound card on the computer is an Audiotrak Prodigy HD2 with the upgraded operational amplifiers. Always use either MAD or mpg123 mp3 decoders if you must play lossy digital files. Also, always bypass the windows kmixer as doing so will add definition to your music. There is no substitute for the tonal color that vinyl has to offer.
