This is a song, once again, by Utada Hikaru because I love her so much, and it's a really popular song. It was the theme song for the popular series Hana Yori Dango 2. Anyways it was an easier song than COLORS to play, but I struggled at parts where my hands had to JUMP a lot ^^; I don't have the score for this song because I hear music out myself. Please forgive mistakes, and enjoy!

================================ arr.Kreisler Rimsky-Korsakov:Hymn to the Sun (Le Coq d'Or) (Mono) *Franz Rupp, piano ================================ Related information: The influence of the artist's personality in his art finds a most striking exemplification in the case of Fritz Kreisler. Some time before the writer called on the famous violinist to get at first hand some of his opinions with regard to his art, he had already met him under particularly interesting circumstances. The question had come up of writing text-poems for two song-adaptations of Viennese folk-themes, airs not unattractive in themselves; but which Kreisler's personal touch, his individual gift of harmonization had lifted from a lower plane to the level of the art song. Together with the mss. of his own beautiful transcript, Mr. Kreisler in the one instance had given me the printed original which suggested it--frankly a "popular" song, clumsily harmonized in a "four-square" manner (though written in 3/4 time) with nothing to indicate its latent possibilities. I compared it with his mss. and, lo, it had been transformed! Gone was the clumsiness, the vulgar and obvious harmonic treatment of the melody--Kreisler had kept the melodic outline, but etherealized, spiritualized it, given it new rhythmic _contours_, a deeper and more expressive meaning. And his rich and subtle harmonization had lent it a quality of distinction that justified a comparison between the grub and the butterfly. In a small way it was an illuminating glimpse of how the personality of a true artist can metamorphose what at first glance might seem something quite negligible, and create beauty where its possibilities alone had existed before. It is this personal, this individual, note in all that Fritz Kreisler does--when he plays, when he composes, when he transcribes--that gives his art-effort so great and unique a quality of appeal. Talking to him in his comfortable sitting-room in the Hotel Wellington--Homer and Juvenal (in the original) ranked on the piano-top beside De Vere Stackpole novels and other contemporary literature called to mind that though Brahms and Beethoven violin concertos are among his favorites, he does not disdain to play a Granados _Spanish Dance_--it seemed natural to ask him how he came to make those adaptations and transcripts which have been so notable a feature of his programs, and which have given such pleasure to thousands. [Illustration: FRITZ KREISLER, with hand-written note] HOW KREISLER CAME TO COMPOSE AND ARRANGE He said: "I began to compose and arrange as a young man. I wanted to create a repertory for myself, to be able to express through my medium, the violin, a great deal of beautiful music that had first to be adapted for the instrument. What I composed and arranged was for my own use, reflected my own musical tastes and preferences. In fact, it was not till years after that I even thought of publishing the pieces I had composed and arranged. For I was very diffident as to the outcome of such a step. I have never written anything with the commercial idea of making it 'playable.' And I have always felt that anything done in a cold-blooded way for purely mercenary considerations somehow cannot be good. It cannot represent an artist's best." http://www.theviolinsite.com/violin_mastery/fritz_kreisler.html ================================ *Note:Support the artist, their families and their legacy by purchasing their music.

POSTED WITH PERMISSION OF DON ROSS. Recorded at Trinity United Church in Cannington (Ontario, Canada) on Saturday, September 15, 2001. Tuning: FACFCF David Essig's comments on this tune: "I wrote the piece to honour the memory of my mother, Doris Hinkins, who came from the small town of Berkley Springs, West Virginia. I originally wrote it in DADGAD and recorded it that way on the first album I issued as a CD in 1988: Morning Calm. That's where Don Ross first encountered it I believe. He may have also heard me play it live, since we used to do some gigs together back in Ontario and at some Canadian festivals. Don transposed the piece into F tuning which enables him to play some interesting chord inversions. He also added a chord to the piece that's not in the original, but which I've now incorporated into my version as a tribute back to Don." Don Ross's arrangement of this tune composed by David Essig. It reminds to "sheebag and Sheemore" (or something like that) but it has a nice groovy switch at the third section. Another thing is to play it well... but its an honnest try, believe me! I hope you enjoy. Btw, the tuning is , from low to high: FACFCF (!) And its "BerklEy Springs" not "Birkly"-Typical me....sorry for that. P.S. This video is dedicated to my sister Bernadette, who has her 50th birthday the 24th of this month! Gelukkige verjaardag, Baartje!!! MESSAGE FROM DAVID ESSIG: Greetings from Canada - this is David Essig checking in. I'm the guy who wrote "Berkley Springs," and I am flattered and amazed by all of your interest and enthusiasm for the piece. Thank you all very much!! I wrote the piece to honour the memory of my Mother, Doris Hinkins, who came from the small town of Berkley Springs, West Virginia. He also added a chord to the piece that's not in the original, but which I've now incorporated into my version as a tribute back to Don. It's been recorded a bunch of times here in Canada and I've most recently recorded it on my latest CD release: Presbyterian Guitar. For this new version, we did as a trio on three weissenborns: Doug Cox, Steve Dawson and me, all playing it together. It's very beautiful and if you'd like a copy you can order it directly from me at essig@telus.net Please feel free to check out my website: www.davidessig.com and I look forward to hearing from you! Thanks again for your wonderful versions of the tune! David Essig Protection Island, BC Canada Me again: Its rather nice that a composer encourages an amateur like me rather than telling me I am infringing copyright. The kind of comment that makes a difference. Many thanks, David, and my deepest respect. Pascal

Flamenco arrangement of Asturias-Leyenda by Isaac Albeniz written and performed live in concert by Yorgos Kertsopoulos at the Muzart Festival, Helexpo Palace, Athens 20 April 2008.High tuned guitar strings constructed by Yorgos give the guitar a minor third higher pitched tuning making it possible to preserve the original G minor key while not changing the usual E minor fingering. In 1948 A.Segovia introduced the nylon string aesthetic of A.Augustine. The classical and flamenco guitar enjoys this aesthetic for more than sixty years and J.Bream, J.Williams, D.Fampas, the Romero family, C.Parkening, Alirio Diaz, R.Dyens, L.Almeida, Paco de Lucia, P.Pena, C.Montoya, Sabicas, Serranito are only a few of the guitarists that play with great success this aesthetic which has worldwide acceptance today. A.Barrios and H.V.Lobos played with metal strings while D.Prat, A.Lauro, F.Tarrega, R.Montoya played with gut strings. At the time of M.Giuliani, M.Carcassi, L.Legnani, F.Carulli, F.Sor, D.Aguado the guitar was strung with metal, gut and silk strings and had either double courses or single strings. Also further back in history G.Sanz, Bermudo, Brescianello played the guitar in higher pitched tunings and the triple strung guitarra battente was popular mainly in Italy. Y.Kertsopoulos introduced in 1994 the Kertsopoulos Aesthetics which as a multiplex open architecture scheme provide the possibility of reviving and realizing the many faces of the guitar's aesthetics, as they have been recorded in history. Among many guitarists that play the aesthetics Smaro Gregoriadou has made many succesful first world presentations of different aspects of aesthetic styles in guitar interpretation.

Performed at "Dove-tail" in Osaka, 2002, same as another video of "Sunflower Slow Drag". "Ragtime Nightingale" is classic rag by Joseph F. Lamb. I haven't recorded it yet to my CD and forgot how to play it, so I hope someday I will play it again. I have recorded 2 other rags of Lamb (The Alaskan Rag, Ragtime Bobolink) at my CD "Plays Roberto Clemente" in 2005. http://cdbaby.com/cd/hamada2

High-quality MP3: http://www.contrebombarde.com/concerthall/music/123 This is Virgil Fox's arrangement of "Now Thank We All Our God." It is being performed on my home organ which is running Hauptwerk v3. The sample set is the Notre Dame de Metz Cavaille-Coll (though as you can hear, it does quite well as an American Classic) by Milan Digital Audio. I have amplified the recit chorus reeds by 7.5 dB each using the voicing feature.
