Ok this reallly gets me pissed....today on ESPN First Take...Greg Anthony said that "having played with both Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant...Kobe is definately the greatest and most skilled player to have ever touched a round ball and Michael doesnt even possess the skills Kobe possesses"..................
that message was sent to me on a comment board. Just the other day they asked Barkley about the Kobe Jordan thing and he said that Kobe will NEVER BE AS GOOD AS JORDAN. Magic Johnson has stated repeatedly that Jordan is the greatest of all time, head and shoulders above the rest.
So you take Iverson's determination, LeBron's team play and supreme athleticism, throw in the way Rip Hamilton works without the ball, add in Kobe's jumper, throw in a little Ray Allen with the way he was so clutch all year, sprinkle in some Dwyane Wade for the crossovers and speed, throw in Josh Smith's blocking ability, and sprinkle on top the Bruce Bowen/Ron Artest defense. Ok now if I take all of those attributes from each player, I have Jordan. Kobe does everything he can to emulate what Jordan did, that doesn't mean he can pull off the same moves with the same effectiveness. Evident by the easier defenses of today and he still has a lower fg% which we can call an execution percentage. That's the last thing I want to see is a 1 time MVP, with 2 scoring titles, 0 defensive player of the year awards, called better than the guy he is trying to emulate who trumps everything anybody ever did, who touched a basketball, not named Wilt.
Greg Anthony said Lamar Odom is "more skilled" and a "better player" than Dirk Nowitzki. He said the 06 Pistons would beat the 96 Bulls, he said Chris Paul is the best PG hes ever seen, and he said that he thinks Carmelo is better than Dirk because he plays better against good teams and thats how players should be judged! So since when has Kobe played better than Mike when matched up against better teams??? and we're supposed to take anything this guy says serious? Hes had a personal vendetta against the Bulls ever since BJ Armstrong used to shut his dumb ass down every time he got to touch the court against the Bulls. So who's word do you take? Shaq who eliminated Jordan one year in the playoffs AND he went to war with Kobe as a teammate? Or do you want Greg Anthony's? Norm Van Lier should be a national analyst in place of Greg Anthony.
