Yea Ji's amazing comeback. Partial because it was after the whole event. A truly freaky and horrible incident happened to Shin in the free. She landed a 3T2T and then went for her second jump, triple flip. The jump was not right from the beginning. She took a really scary fall (Later she said she knew going up that she'd better bail out by singling it but went hard for three rotations). She hit her face and shoulder on the ice so hard that she fainted for what seemed like an eternity. She seemed to be having a slight seizure. A cable TV channel was broadcasting ladies senior and junior events live. She managed to open her eyes when officials and her coach rushed to the ice. Thanks god she was okay, but it was clear that Korean Skating Union was not prepared for this kind of incident at all. No medical staff seemed to be on the site. Yea-Ji was rushed to a nearby hospital and was checked by MRI for injuries. Fortunately, she was not injured (but she must have suffered quite a concussion). Yea-Ji came back to the arena and wanted to skate the rest of her program. She was given a chance more than two hours after the senior ladies event was over. Even though she looked fine, people who saw that violent fall were really scared that she might fall again and hurt herself. TV cameras were gone but a handful of fans, coaches, fellow skaters and parents, officials and judges gave her a long and hearty applause. (by Michelle K) Video by Michelle K
