WEAVING WORLDS highlights the untold stories of the personalities and characters involved in the making and selling of Navajo rugs. The film presents a compelling and intimate portrait of economic and cultural survival through the art of weaving in the face of increased globalization. Director BENNIE KLAIN has a keen and compassionate eye, and he allows viewers into the world of indigenous artists and their struggle to maintain pride and cultural vitality through creating their textiles and "reweaving the world." The result is a poignant digital portrait of Navajo artisans and their unique—and often controversial—relationship with white Reservation traders. Weaving Worlds is a co-production of TricksterFilms, LLC and the Independent Television Service (ITVS) in association with Native American Public Telecommunications (NAPT), with major funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

A thoughtful look at a long-time palm tree frond weaver named Moku. He has been weaving fronds for 10 years, and it is quite fascinating to watch him form various animals, headbands, and roses in a matter of moments from a regular palm tree frond. Watch him create in this picturesque setting by the sea in Lahaina. *Directed by Joel Vetsch *Filmed in Maui, Hawaii

Weaving Life - Discovering the Story of Ecuador's "Panama Hat" This is a 30min documentary about the perhaps most famous and powerful hat in history. We are following the story and the people who are making the word's most famous straw hat - the Panama hat. In truth this hat has always been woven in Ecuador, a small Latin American country. The misnomer Panama hat has its origin from the times when the Panama canal was built and the hat was used by the workers to protect themselves from the sun. In Europe and North America the hat is sold for up to 10.000 Dollars, while the weavers in Ecuador earn a tenth or less of the selling price. Normally 200 Dollars a month. They can hardly feed their families while the hat is a symbol of status and authority in the First World. However, still today the hat plays an important part in Ecuador's history and culture. But the art of weaving the hat is dying out. The handicraft is bad paid and not interesting anymore for young people. I am following the Panama hat's trail across Ecuador. We get to know the people who are making the hat, how they live and what role the hat plays in their lives.

Cut the Sisal. Strip the leaf down the middle. Then scrape the chlorophyll filled exterior with a blunt knife. Dye each of the fibers before wrapping a sweet grass core with a thousand stitches. Produced & Directed by: Parker Snyder Music & Photography by: Kasia Romanska Translation by: Gabriel Gahima Videography by: Marcin Jaroszewicz Narrative by: Tupochele Mtila In Support: Lori & Andy Stuart Welcome to the life of a rural woman enrolled in the Gitarama Basket Weavers Association. With each basket you sell, you'll save a dollar and with each dollar saved, you're one step closer to sending your child to school. What's life like without the Association? More than likely, you'll wake each day before the sun to turn the earth with a metal hoe. But you'll earn no income and what food you're able to grow you'll feed to your family. You'll barter the excess for salt, soap and oil. For the first time in their lives, women trained by the Gahaya Links earn an income. Joy Ndungutse and her sister Janet returned from exile in Uganda to help the rural women of their home country Rwanda. They know the life well. Their own mother was a rural farmer like many of the women they serve. For Promoting Savings among the associations by tasking them to create a savings scheme, Janet Ndungutse has been named a Caring Habits Social Mentor . Like the Yellow Weaver birds of Africa, the women are learning to construct a basket of savings, safe from the ruin of men.

Weaving is the technology known since beginning of civilization. The technical solutions used for textiles generation were improved over centuries. The idea presented here is use this technology for generating artificial tissues, connecting different types of tissues and finally develop artificial organ. Importance here is that waving is used for generating 2D structures (such as suiting) but also for 3D structures (such as ropes). The basic improvement which allows use the weaving for organ development is fibbers modification. The idea is to incubate the cells on degradable fibbers weaving the fibbers in desire 3D structure and allow for morphing during the slow fibbers degradation. The more advance option is to incubate cells inside of pipes instead fibbers. This allows avoid losing the cells during weaving process. But is this possible?
