The ethics of eating meat is an argument that is filled with many points of debate But whether people agree with eating meat or not, there's no denying that farm animals on factory farms and slaughterhouses suffer and are victims of some very upsetting abuses towards them. The decision to be vegetarian is a personal choice in the world today by people and I wont force anybody to become vegetarian or hate if you if you aren't. But part of my role as an advocate of animal rights and welfare is to inform people of the things that happen to animals. I like many people just had no idea about what happens to these farm animals in the process of raising and killing them for food and because I found out, I decided to become vegan as a result. But one thing that makes me laugh is people who assume vegetarians and vegans are somehow weak hippies who look like death, have no energy, would blow over in a strong breeze, aren't able to pick up a bowling ball or don't wanna be friends with meat eaters, when this isn't the case at all! You can be very fit and healthy on a vegetarian or vegan diet. I even worked at a meat storage place as a vegan once because I needed some quick cash, and I have lots of meat eating friends. I listen to heavy metal, love playing sport and am fit and healthy. But while we do kill animals for food, it's important that we do it with the highest code of ethics as possible and as humanely as possible, whilst we educate people as to where their food comes from; and I know and understand the difference between animal rights and animal welfare concerns. So if you do eat meat, then please consider making compassionate food choices and support organic free range farming such as buying free range eggs from the grocery store. It really is just a case of 'out of sight out of mind' for so many people. But if slaughterhouses did daily tours many people would be vegetarians / vegans instantly, and one life doesn't have to end in order for yours to continue. For more information on vegetarianism and how adopting a cruelty free lifestyle not only benefits you, the earth, and most importantly the terrific animals. Please visit my blog on my profile. Some facts and quotes some may find interesting. I actually dislike this video to some extent now, as it was the first one i did, but i'm still getting people saying they like it, so it's staying up.

Dr. Acharya Yogeesh speaks on Vegetarianism. We are not born as meat-eaters and our human body was not meant to digest meat. He talks about the first animal rights movement in history alongside animal cruelty. 3 part series. Be Vegetarian There is currently great awareness about vegetarianism especially among celebrities. Truly, we are born vegetarian. The most obvious factor is that our teeth don't match those of meat eating animals. We lack claws to prey on our food source. Animals can digest raw meat without cleansing. Humans cannot do that. All our foods have to be washed of dirt and insects. Our intestines are very long in comparison to animals. Animals can digest meat very fast because of it. In humans digesting meat takes about three days, which means that food spoils in the intestines causing sickness and disease. Meat also clogs our arteries. In Hindu culture our ancestors who were hunters ate meat. Unfortunately, their blood is still running in our veins. We need to purify it. Thousands of years ago however, out of realization that eating beef was harmful they declared the cow a sacred animal. When people considered the cow sacred they could no longer kill it. The cow is also considered like a mother because we are raised on her milk. The animal rights movement started in order to protect the life of animals. Krishna's cousin, a Jain tirthankar, had this vision. Krishna arranged for his wedding in a city in an area where many animals were caged in. His cousin inquired of his charioteer why they were there. The charioteer informed him that they were there for the wedding waiting to be slaughtered. He immediately ordered the charioteer to free all the animals from the cage. That was the origin of animal rights awareness. He then asked his charioteer to take him up the hill and there he became a monk and later became enlightened. He was the 22nd Jain Tirthankar. Krishna followed his example and now you see Krishna's pictures always with animals around him. While he plays the flute the animals are in trance next to him. Even animals can go into trance around peaceful people. Krishna loved his cousin and so he left his kingdom and became enlightened. *tags* spiritual, spirituality, spiritual teacher, spiritual guru, spiritual master, seeker, truth, enlightenment, peace, self-realization, meditation, awareness

Be Vegetarian - Part Two Transcription Our ancestors did not possess the knowledge about cultivating vegetables. They were familiar only to hunting. As time went by and discovered that they could grow vegetables, they came to appreciate what nature was providing them and gradually they turned to vegetarianism. Vegetarianism has the added benefit of being healthful to our body; no heart or arterial problems come from eating vegetarian foods. Vegetarianism puts you on the path to non-violence. The difference between meat and vegetables is this: meat grows inside the uterus of the mother (human or animal) and is born through a body canal. Vegetables are grown and come through the soil of the earth. Avoid animal products for health reasons; even too much milk can create problems in the body. Meat eaters are not aware of the cruelty that is being done to the animal. Once people become aware of this they will turn to vegetarianism. It is also advisable not to use shoes made of leather except as Gandhi advised in India, to use the leather from animals who died naturally. They are produced non-violently. We need to raise our voice against those products. For example to make a beautiful snakeskin purse for women it takes the skin of about 40 snakes. The process to acquire the skin is extremely cruel. The snakes are caught, hung by nail hammered into their head to a tree and a hot iron is applied to the skin in order to peel it off. The snakes are left hanging and they die a long and tortured death. The men who do this do not have the compassion to at least remove the nail from the snake's head or kill it. All of this is done to multiple snakes to make one handbag. At the very least, if you want to use leather buy inexpensive shoes. Many rich women who wear expensive leather shoes declare themselves vegetarian. Sometimes to make the most expensive shoes they have to take the baby from the animal's womb in order to get its soft skin. So you have to raise your voice against these practices or at the very least try to avoid expensive leather goods. *tags* spiritual, spirituality, spiritual teacher, spiritual guru, spiritual master, seeker, truth, enlightenment, peace, self-realization, meditation, awareness

Be Vegetarian -- Part 3 Transcription There are many synthetic products now on the market that look just as good as leather products. Promote those products. Once you do this you are becoming more and more vegetarian. Avoid eating eggs because the yoke of the egg is full of cholesterol. The method of producing eggs is also unnatural. Chickens are fed special ingredients mixed into their food in order to produce more eggs. Their body suffers from the increased production of eggs. Their life span is shorter because of it and so they are slaughtered for their meat. These are just a few examples of the cruelty inflicted on animals in order to produce these products for human consumption. We need to either stop using the products or boycott their use. If you can be fully vegetarian eat produce that grows from the earth directly. If you have a pet animal, like a cow or sheep, care for them well, treat them humanely, and use the milk when you need it. This is acceptable. Meat on the other hand is not good for health; it will shorten your life. You will suffer from ailments like high blood pressure, cholesterol, and you might end up needing a major and costly surgery to correct your problems. If you cannot be a strict vegetarian at least be moderately vegetarian. Vegetables pass through your system fast, within 12 hours. This is not so with meat. By protecting animals humanity can bring beauty to the planets. Follow non-violence by becoming vegetarian. Feel oneness with every living being - human, animal and vegetation. You do not have to cut the apple tree in order to get one apple. The tree stays alive. You cannot eat beef by just cutting a small part of the animal. You have to kill the whole animal. Think about all these things. Gandhi was invited to London to see if he could be converted to Christianity. The thought was that if he was to be converted all of India would become Christian. Does conversion make the world better? No. Just teach good things to people, don't try to convert them. Gandhi was staying with a family and they served him meat. He objected and refused to eat it. The children of the host asked him why he was vegetarian. He said simply that he did not wish to kill animals or a tree for one apple or a tomato plant for one tomato. That night instead of Gandhi being converted to Christianity the children ended up following Gandhi's teaching. Vegetarianism has positive effects on a person -- good health, good energy flow and clears body channels. Be vegetarian and be non-violent. *tags* animal cruelty, animal rights, vegetarian, vegan, veganism, vegetarianismspiritual, spirituality, spiritual teacher, spiritual guru, spiritual master, seeker, truth, enlightenment, peace, self-realization, meditation, awareness

The Greek word for "fish weed" (a dried seaweed) has been mistranslated in stories as "fish". Furthermore, the Bible was altered at The Council of Nicea. Rearing cattle produces more greenhouse gases than driving cars. - 2006 UN Report warning. Even Al Gore's Inconvenient Truth did not mention that consuming meat and dairy is worse for the environment than all emissions from the automotive industry. 1) Factory farms produce massive amounts of dust and other contamination that pollutes our air. A study in Texas found that animal feedlots in the state produce more than 14 million pounds of particulate dust every year and that the dust 'contains biologically active organisms such as bacteria, mold, and fungi from the feces and the feed'. 2) According to the nonprofit group Greenpeace, all the wild animals and trees in more than 2.9 million acres of rainforest were destroyed in the 2004-2005 crop season in order to grow crops that are used to feed chickens and other animals in factory farms. 3) According to a 2006 UN report, the livestock sector causes more greenhouse gases worldwide than the entire transportation sector. 4) Nitrous oxide is about 300 times more potent as a global warming gas than carbon dioxide. According to the U.N., the meat, egg, and dairy industries account for a staggering 65 percent of worldwide nitrous oxide emissions. 5) According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the run-off from factory farms pollutes our waterways more than all other industrial sources combined. The EPA reports that chicken, hog, and cattle excrement have polluted 35,000 miles of rivers in 22 states and contaminated groundwater in 17 states. 6) It takes 16 pounds of grain and 2,500 gallons of water to produce 1 pound of meat. One average meat eater could consume that pound of meat during a meal, while 16 people could have been fed on the grain it takes to produce that pound of meat. 7) The meat industry causes more water pollution in the US than all other industries combined because the animals raised for food produce 130 times more excrement than the entire human population--86,000 lbs per second. A typical pig factory farm generates a quantity of raw waste equal to that of a city of 12,000 people. 8) Every 2 seconds, a child starves to death somewhere in the world. Countries such as Ethiopia and some Central American countries use their farmland to supply the United States with cheap burgers instead of growing healthful grain foods for their own starving people. 9) The livestock population of the US consumes enough grain and soybeans to feed more than 5 times its human population. 90% of all corn and 80% of all grains and beans grown in the US are used to feed livestock animals. 10) 75 percent of U.S. topsoil has been lost to date, 85 percent of that loss is due to livestock rearing. Meat is murder on the environment A kilogram of beef is responsible for more greenhouse gas emissions and other pollution than driving for 3 hours while leaving all the lights on back home. Fortunately there is something you can do -- switch to a plant-based diet, or at the very least reduce your meat and dairy consumption. Go vegan for all sentient beings & for the environment. From www.woodstockFAS.org Many leading environmental organizations, including the National Audubon Society, the WorldWatch Institute, the Sierra Club, and the Union of Concerned Scientists, have recognized that raising animals for food damages the environment more than just about anything else that we do. The meat industry is one of the most destructive ecological industries on the planet. This is a fantastic video produced by the U.K animal rights organization Animal Aid encouraging people to adopt a cruelty free vegetarian / vegan lifestyle. Many people who consume meat love animals greatly and are compassionate individuals. But as this video depicts, if you eat meat, you're more then likely unaware of the actions your contributing to, and the inherent cruelty involved in the processes of raising rendering and killing farm animals for food. The collective factory farm, slaughterhouse, and meat industry is responsible for some of the worst abuses toward animals anywhere in the world. The factory farming attitude is one that regards animals as purely commodities to be exploited for maximized profit; and because these gentle non threatening farm animals aren't held in as higher regard as our companion animals cats and dogs. The abuses committed toward them often go without much understanding or sympathy from people, because they simply see them as a food source and nothing else. This attitude of industrialized factory farming operations has led to shocking and very upsetting acts of animal cruelty, animal and human health risks and environmental damage. As this video highlights, the acts committed towards farm animals by uncompassionate individuals are very upsetting, and the welfare of animals isn't always at the highest priority, if any? Particularly in the world's economically poorer regions which leads to more suffering for them. By considering adopting a cruelty vegetarian / vegan lifestyle, you'll be saving animals, improving your health and reducing environmental damage. We have a conscious choice to save animals from this unnecessary cruelty and suffering, and the human race can survive and be fit healthy and happy without consuming animal products; and the unfortunate stereotype of vegetarians / vegans being weak, void of energy, or unfit is bogus; you can be very fit and healthy on a vegetarian / vegan diet. So please consider adopting a cruelty vegetarian / vegan lifestyle, and help to reduce and stop the unnecessary, cruel, and upsetting abuses committed toward the great misunderstood farm animals. This video was uploaded with permission from Animal Aid www.animalaid.org.uk Thank You
