Okay, here's a full summary. Sorry for being so long, I was trying to explain the majority of the scenes. Satoshi is a Japanese warrior sent to fight in a foreign land. Badly injured and almost near death, he finds himself saved by a beautiful young villager, Gillian. Gillian lives alone in an isolated cottage for her beauty only brings forth trouble. Satoshi and Gillian soon fall in love, breaking all rules and forces against them. Edison is a Prince who went hunting in the woods, he falls in love with Gillian at first sight. Torn by duty and love, Satoshi returns to Japan to resign from the world of martial arts and war to live peacefully and happily with Gillian. But when he returns, Gillian is gone, and the cottage is left in ashes. (Edison sent some of his bodyguards to capture Gillian for his spoiled attitude has to get what he wishes.) Satoshi roams from place to place seeking for Gillian's whereabouts while Gillian is helplessly confined to Edison's side. Besides their lovely memories, the only witnesses left of Satoshi and Gillian's love are their jades, which is a pair meant for true lovers. Unfortunately, Gillian accidently drops her's and Edison gains possession of it. Satoshi finally finds Gillian but to his surprise, he sees that Edison has the other piece of jade and misunderstands that Gillian has forgotten about their love. Satoshi painfully leaves while Gillian tries to run away but Edison outsmarts her. Satoshi goes off in the rain to release his anguish and pain. He realizes that he loves Gillian too much and needs clarification. Satoshi surprises Gillian with flowers as Edison observes angrily. Satoshi notices that Gillian has never forgotten about him as she has planted his favorite type of flower all over her room. Satoshi promises to take Gillian away but then something attacks and steals Gillian away. Satoshi eagerly chases after it and Gillian who struggles her way out runs towards Satoshi to protect him as well. The creature that Edison sent is too strong and pushes Satoshi off the cliff, leaving Gillian desperately trying to save him with her last ounces of energy but soon fails as Satoshi falls. Satoshi stands outside waiting for Gillian but not knowing that he is still alive Gillian mourns. Edison soon realizes how pathetic he is forcing his love on Gillian when Satoshi and Gillian truly love one another. Edison also realizes what true love is and changes his ways because the love he has for Gillian makes him a better person. At the festival where Edison is going to be crowned as the King's successor, a rival kingdom disguises themselves as dancers in hopes of assassinating Edison and the King. There are too many strong assassins attacking, Edison blocks Gillian from the weapons and dies in her arms. Even though Gillian doesn't love Edison, Edison is content dying in her arms and apologizes for all of the trouble. Satoshi is badly injured as well fighting outside city walls to get to the palace but he makes his way safely to save Gillian in time. Reunited at last, Satoshi and Gillian are overwhelmed with joy, sorrow, and pain. But fate isn't kind, Satoshi has to battle the top assassin while Gillian continues to battle other assassins. In the end, Gillian's injuries and wounds are too deep and she dies in Satohi's arms. Even though Satoshi and Gillian didn't share a happy ending but their true love will live on, surpassing time. Satoshi and Gillian's love story are legends untold.

This is DEFINITELY the last Pretty in Pink video for the time being! I wanted to experiment with using some dialogue from the film in a video, to see if it actually was possible to represent a slash subtext using the actual script. I had to be creative here, but I think it works! The song, whilst not contemporary to the film, works well as a backing track; the footage itself was built around one long, slow clip of James Spader that I'd forgotten to include in the previous videos and I desperately wanted to give a home to! Oh, one thing - there is some *strong* language in this video, because it has dialogue - consider yourself warned!

No man could ever tell the story with the quiet sympathy demanded." Sedlar, artistic director of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, was telling me about his 20-minute documentary THE UNTOLD HOLOCAUST, and how he persuaded Sally Kellerman - known internationally for her portrayal of Major "Hot Lips" Houlihan in the movie version of M*A*S*H - to talk about death rather than joy. THE UNTOLD HOLOCAUST tells the story of Serbia's wartime genocide against its Jewish population between 1941 and 1945. I'd been pointed in its direction by Zlatan Gleb, of the Zagreb Jewish Community Centre. Wartime Croatia, then governed by the pro-Nazi administration has been condemned for decades for its treatment of the Jews. Yet, said Gleb, Serbia's treatment of its Jewish population was even worse. But, until Sedlar came along, Serbia had managed to conveniently whitewash its own anti-Semitic past. Sedlar is a remarkable man. Urbane and articulate, he's driven not just by artistic endeavour, but by a search for truth. "I fully admit Croatia's record during the Second World War was not one of merit, but while accepting this, I also believe that fault on all sides needs to be exposed in the name of justice and history." With the coming to Croatia of democracy and freedom from Serb-dominated Communist Yugoslavia, Sedlar was able to produce his harrowing documentary about the untold holocaust - the destruction of the Jewish community in wartime Serbia under the Nazi-collaborationist government of Serbian General Milan Nedic. Kellerman's captivating voice eerily dominates the film - her tone can best be described as that of a gentle sadness. It's a haunting film, for sure. The movie carefully details Serbia's anti-Semitic campaign: Jews were not allowed to own a radio or even use a telephone. They couldn't visit the theatre or cinema. That was just the beginning. As the war progressed, Serbian police rounded up Jews for delivery to Nazi extermination camps. For every captured Jew, Serbian police received a cash bounty. Belgrade was actually the first city in Europe to be declared JUDENFREI - free of Jews. Nedic's government passed a law declaring all Jewish property was now the property of Serbs. The footage in THE UNTOLD HOLOCAUST is graphic, and so well documented it's hard to understand how this ugly secret could be hidden for so long. Kellerman provides the reason, "The answer is the oldest one of all," she says, "the victors write the history." When Josip Tito's Serb-dominated Communists took over power at the end of the war it was convenient for them to cast Croatia as the fascist state and whitewash Serbia of its own Nazi past. Not only Croatian patriots such as Sedlar are now speaking out. Dr. Philip J. Cohen, a prominent Maryland doctor and historian, recently complained to ABC News about its one-sided coverage. "As a Jew," he wrote, "I detest Ustasha and I detest its memory. However to brand the Croatian people with the Ustasha label is an unjustified oversimplification." Cohen says while Croatia's infamous concentration camp at Jasenovac is often cited in the media, Serbia's equally infamous death camps at Jabuka, Sajmiste and Jajinci have until now been conveniently forgotten. It's time, insists Cohen, to recognize that Serbia, today so intent on the genocide of the Muslim population of Bosnia-Herzegovina, participated "zealously" in the European holocaust of the Jews.
