Message from Mr. Byrne:
Brian Eno and I recently finished our first collaboration in about 30 years. For the most part, Brian did the music and I wrote some tunes, words and sang. It's familiar but completely new as well. We're pretty excited. In August the music will be available via this Web site, free for streaming and it will also be available for purchase as both a download and in physical formats. One of the songs will be available free of charge.
In September I will begin a tour, on which I will be playing music from the new album as well as music from our previous collaborations - 3 Talking Heads albums, Bush of Ghosts, etc. If you'd like to be updated as this story unfolds, please add your email address via the box below (we will not contact you for any reason other than to tell you about this David Byrne and Brian Eno project and the tour and we promise not to give or sell your contact to anyone else or even to the government).
The name of the new record is Everything That Happens Will Happen Today.
More news soon
David Byrne

Strange Overtones - NEW Byrne & Eno Song released today! August 4th, 2008. MP3 titled "Strange Overtones" being given away today on the home site of the new album

Here is a statement from Mr. Byrne:
"Today, a free track is available from the upcoming record that I did with Brian Eno. I'm hoping that folks will be pleasantly surprised at the direction we've taken and the final result. Since it's only one song, it may give a skewed taste of the record, but many told me it's their favorite track — I guess we'll see.
I'm also wondering whether the web-curious will allow news of the album to spread more or less by itself. In the past, I might have undertaken all kinds of expensive marketing plans to prepare for a record release: there would be a teaser, live shows, posters, magazine ads, interviews, and advance CDs sent to writers and reviewers. We've done a few interviews, but that's about it. It will be interesting to see if audiences find out about this song — and the record — without all those marketing techniques, and solely through Internet word-of-mouth."
Ha, that's funny, I just read this, he talks about internet marketing. Guess that's what I'm doing right now! Took what, 3 hours and a video is on YouTube, sign of the times I guess.

other notes:
27 years after their "My Life in the Bush of Ghosts" collaboration, David Byrne and Brian Eno are once again releasing an album together.
"Everything That Happens Will Happen Today" will be available starting August 18, exclusively via www.everythingthathappens.com and represents the result of a year's worth of writing, recording, and voyaging between London and New York.
The album brings together lyrics created by the ex Talking Heads singer and electronic music made by the renowned producer. The outcome will be a collection of 11 tracks, according to the press release. As reported by the Guardian, David Byrne's lyrics are inspired from various sources, including the Dave Eggers novel "What is the What", although "Everything That Happens Will Happen Today" is mainly stirred by gospel music.
