Michael Jordan had some memorable plays in this one, but again, it just wasn't Chicago's night. The Sonics beat the Bulls in game five, 89-78. Jordan hit 11 of 22 shots for 26 points. Pippen added 14, while Kucoc and Longley added 11 each. Ron Harper did not play due to injury. With the win, the Sonics forced a game six in Chicago on Father's Day. We all know what happens next.

Iverson, Nuggets Defeat Sonics; Karl Notches 800th Win George Karl couldn't have drawn up his 800th win any better - playing short-handed, making up plays on the fly in timeouts, inclement weather outside. This was his kind of game. That's why the Nuggets coach was all smiles after getting his milestone victory in Denver's 112-98 win over the Seattle SuperSonics - his former team - on Thursday night. Karl was handed a Denver jersey with No. 800 on it along with the game ball after beating the Sonics to become only the 12th coach in NBA history to reach the 800-win mark. "Tonight's game was fun because I thought from the minute they went on the court they thought they were going to win the game,'' said Karl, who's 800-555 in 19 seasons. "Coach (Dean) Smith told me a long time ago that if you can't accept that players win and coaches lose, then don't get into coaching. You can be the greatest coach in the world, but if you don't have players, you aren't going to win in the NBA.'' Karl has a superstar in Allen Iverson, who finished with 44 points and 10 assists. Iverson had his highest-scoring game since being acquired by Denver in a trade with Philadelphia on Dec. 19. His season high is 46 against Chicago on Nov. 24. "He's good,'' Karl said. "He's better than I thought and I thought he was (darn) good.'' After coming out of the lineup with 1:04 remaining, Iverson and Karl had a brief conversation and then a quick hug. "To be a part of something like that is something to cherish,'' Iverson said. "It was an honor to help him get that win.'' Nothing the Sonics did worked against Iverson. He's now scored 40 or more points in 77 career games, which ties Oscar Robertson for fourth in NBA history. "He was something,'' Seattle coach Bob Hill said. Karl doesn't take any added satisfaction that the win came against a Seattle team that ran him off after the 1997-98 season. Karl said he no longer has any bitterness toward the franchise he helped lead to the NBA finals in 1996. "This win against Seattle is special because Seattle was a big part of my career,'' Karl said. He even improvised a couple of times during the game, making up plays and watching them work to perfection. "This team just thinks it's going to win even being undermanned,'' he said. Karl's first win was Nov. 15, 1984, against Atlanta when he was coaching Cleveland. He'd started the season 0-9 and never thought he'd reach this type of accomplishment. "When I first started, I thought 250 (games) would be great,'' he said. "I thought 250 and you'd retire into a college job and coach into the sunset.'' Earl Boykins added 24 points, and Reggie Evans had a season-high 18 rebounds for the Nuggets. Damien Wilkins matched his career high with 26 points, and Luke Ridnour finished with 16 points for the Sonics. "We just wanted to get out of here tonight,'' Wilkins said. Both teams did. Another major snowstorm blanketed Denver on Thursday and the Nuggets and Sonics both made dashes for the airport after the game to get out of town for their road games Friday night. The Nuggets will play in Oklahoma City, and Seattle will travel to Minnesota. Seattle star Ray Allen didn't make the trip to Denver after his fiancee gave birth to a boy Wednesday, but may rejoin the team Friday night in Minnesota. Allen has been bothered by a right ankle injury that's kept him out of three of the last five games. Denver's Marcus Camby missed his third straight game with a fractured right finger on his shooting hand. With Nene out as well with a right knee injury, the Nuggets gave Jamal Sampson his third career start. He finished with seven points and nine rebounds. Denver used its fourth different lineup in four games since Carmelo Anthony and J.R. Smith were suspended for their roles in a brawl against the New York Knicks on Dec. 16. Denver is 3-1 without Anthony and Smith. "There's not a whole bunch of pressure,'' Iverson said of being short-handed. "I just feel like all of us are going to have to do it together. It's going to be a team effort.''

Sorry about the HUD and Map showing, I was playing Multi Theft Auto so I couldn't remove the HUD... What if Sonic games involved more freeroam in them? Better yet, what if Sonic was in San Andreas? This is a Bike mod for Wayfarer Motorcycle in San Andreas (yes I know his legs are broken, go complain to the creator of this mod about that) I wanted to try out the whole run around as Sonic in SA so yeah... I'm just trying to make it look like Sonic Unleashed SA style! :P The song is "God Knows" from the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Thank you ribbitfrogman for pointing that out! Toni Kukoc played perhaps his best game of the season and so did the Philadelphia 76ers. Kukoc scored 19 points in support of Allen Iverson's 41 and the 76ers roared to a season high in their fifth straight victory, a 121-89 rout of the Seattle SuperSonics. "Toni Kukoc played like we expected him to play every game," Iverson said. "We need a lot of that from Toni. He's one of those special players that can change a game." While the 76ers have maintained the best record in the NBA this season, they have done so with little help from Kukoc, who has struggled to find his niche in the offense since being acquired in a trade last February. "When I don't play much or play well, I still get upset," Kukoc said. "I go home and think about what I can do better to improve, and stay in the game longer." A former Sixth Man Award winner and a member of Chicago's three championship teams from 1996-98, Kukoc came in averaging just 7.2 points per game. He surpassed that in the second quarter, when he scored 10 points and fueled a game-breaking run. Kukoc made 8-of-9 shots in 21 minutes off the bench, surpassing his point total for the last three games combined. He helped the Sixers shoot 53 percent (47-of-89) and post season highs in points and victory margin. "It's great when you can shoot 90 percent from the floor," Kukoc said. "I don't know how many nights you're going to shoot like that but this helps my confidence and helps the team as well. When I get involved early in the game, it opens up the floor for Allen and the big guys in the middle." Iverson continued his scoring binge, making 15-of-30 shots and 9-of-9 free throws as he had his way with defensive standout Gary Payton. Since returning from a one-game absence due to a partially separated shoulder, he is averaging 34.3 points in four games. Since Iverson entered the NBA in 1996, Philadelphia is 8-11 when he scores 40 or more points. "That's what he does, put points on the board," backcourt mate Aaron McKie said. "When Allen is playing like that, at a high level, everybody else picks it up." Rashard Lewis scored 14 points for the SuperSonics, who shot 42 percent (35-of-84) and were pounded on the boards, 48-37. They dropped to 0-2 on a five-game road trip and have lost three in a row to the Sixers. "If you're not giving an effort and you're not focusing or concentrating on what you need to do to play this game, you will get embarrassed the way we did," Sonics coach Nate McMillan said. "There's some negative energy on this team. Until we put this team first and give the effort that it takes in order for us to win, we will be faced with this situation a lot more." The Sonics hung around for a quarter as Iverson scored 12 points to give the Sixers a 32-26 lead. Kukoc came on and scored eight points in a 15-2 burst that opened the second period. A layup by McKie gave Philadelphia a 47-28 lead with 6:26 left in the first half. Todd MacCulloch had a pair of hoops in a 9-1 spurt that closed the quarter and opened a 64-41 halftime bulge. MacCulloch had 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Philadelphia shot 57 percent (27-of-47) in the first half and kept it up in the third quarter. Iverson scored 11 points in the period, helping to widen the lead to 90-64. The Sixers could have gone scoreless in the fourth quarter and still won but tallied 31 points for their highest total in a regulation game since Iverson debuted five years ago. "When I first got here, Pat (owner Pat Croce) and I talked about us having something special here," Iverson said. "And right now, from the looks of things, it's keeps getting better for us." McKie scored 10 points, Tyrone Hill added eight and 11 rebounds and Theo Ratliff eight and five blocks for Philadelphia (23-8), which has eight wins by 18 points or more and is 11-0 when it holds foes below 100 points. "Allen was terrific again, Toni goes 8-for-9 off the bench, Todd goes 6-of-9, Aaron was solid," Sixers coach Larry Brown said. "We played great. You don't beat a team like Seattle unless you played your best. I think we played our best."

Kenyon Martin couldn't believe the box score, so he doesn't expect anybody else to, either. "A lot of people are going to think it's a misprint," Martin said. "A lot of people will think there's no way they scored that many points. It's unbelievable. There are no words for it." The Nuggets set NBA season highs for points in a half with 84 and points in a game with a 168-116 rout of the Seattle SuperSonics on Sunday night. Denver set a franchise record for most points in a regulation game and fell just 16 points shy of the franchise record for points in a game. "There was no way that I couldn't enjoy the game, not from the way we played offensively," Nuggets coach George Karl said. The Nuggets had eight players score in double figures, led by Carmelo Anthony's 26 and Allen Iverson's 24. Martin had 23 points and Marcus Camby had a triple-double with 13 points, 15 rebounds and a career-high 10 assists. Still, the only thing the players could talk about was the 168 points they scored in a franchise-record 52-point win. "I've never been a part of a game like this where we won by so many points and scored so many points," Camby said. "This is definitely a game I'm going to keep in my archives." Seattle would rather forget this one. After giving up 138 points to Denver in a 42-point loss on Feb. 27 -- which was also the previous high for points in the NBA this season -- the SuperSonics had no chance to redeem themselves Sunday. They gave up an NBA season-high 48 points in the first quarter and trailed by 19 after the first 12 minutes. It didn't get any better in the second. Denver eclipsed Phoenix's record of 80 points in a half with 1:31 left before the break, and at halftime the Nuggets led by 26. They led by as many as 55 in the fourth quarter. "We just lost tonight. We lost by a lot," said Seattle forward Chris Wilcox, who had 17 points. "That's just something you're going to have to look back on. It's just something you're going to have to live with." Seattle isn't the only team that has been routed by Denver this week. The Nuggets finished this homestand with three blowout victories. They beat Memphis by 22 Wednesday night and the Raptors by 32 Friday night. Sunday, they used the same formula to rout the Sonics. They shared the ball and hit open shots, and for the second straight game the starters were on the bench in the fourth quarter and let the reserves play mop-up time. "It's hard to beat a team when you get 44 assists and making the extra pass," Martin said. "It's tough to beat a team when you play like we did tonight." Now the trick for Denver is to keep it going. The Nuggets are 40-26 but trail Golden State by 1½ games for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. They start a five-game road trip in Detroit on Tuesday and hope to continue their strong play against the defensive-minded Pistons while trying to comprehend Sunday's win. "Like the Rockets winning 22 straight, it's unheard of on this level," Martin said. "Scoring 168 points in regulation is unheard of. Hopefully we can take what we did these last three games at home onto the road trip." Seattle has to regroup after suffering its 51st loss of the season in an embarrassing fashion. "We get beat that badly, there's no excuse for that," Sonics coach P.J. Carlesimo said. "It matters a lot because we're professionals and we're trying to compete -- and we didn't compete tonight." Game notes The Nuggets' franchise record for points came in a 186-184 triple-overtime loss to Detroit on Dec. 13, 1983. ... The previous team record for regulation points was 163 against San Antonio on Jan. 11, 1984. ... The Nuggets are tied for the fourth-best start in franchise history and their best start since 1987-88. ... The Nuggets set an NBA record with 49 fast-break points, breaking the previous mark of 48 set by Toronto on Jan. 12, 2003. ... Kevin Durant led the Sonics with 23 points.

Oh boy, what was George Karl thinking? Was it just a week ago when Van Gundy called MJ a 'con man', accusing him of being friendly with NBA players off the court so he could destroy them on the court? MJ responded with 51pts on 60% shooting while cursing Van Gundy out of the game during their next meeting. Did Karl not heed that warning? Karl didn't really criticize MJ before this game, all he said was that MJ was 'playing not to get hurt' so he was now a 'jumpshooter'. Well, any comment on MJ's game was enough to awaken the beast. Maybe it was because this was the first meeting with the Sonics since the Bulls beat them for the championship the previous year. But then again, MJ had some words for Karl at the end of this game so obviously, it was a little more than just that. With his superhuman ability to enter a zone on call, MJ did just what Karl ordered. He annihilated the Sonics with a torrid arsenal of finesse jumpers en route to 68% shooting for 45pts. Chicago went up by 18 at the 4th and MJ just cruised to victory - not even trying to push for 50. The message was loud and clear and there was no need to pour salt into Karl's wound.
