Preliminary test results indicate the husband of British soul singer
Corinne Bailey Rae may have died of a drug overdose. Police were called to an
apartment on Saturday (March 22, 2008) where they found the body of 31 year
old musician Jason Rae. Police have arrested another man on suspicion of
supplying the drugs to Rae.
Britney's dad is still the boss. That's after a California court
denied an attorney's bid to challenge an order that gave control of troubled
pop star's personal and business affairs to her father, Jamie Spears. The
attorney though says he'll continue to challenge that conservatorship.
Meanwhile, Britney's life appears to be regaining some type of order.
Spears scored big on Monday (March 24, 2008) as her guest role on the sitcom
"How I Met Your Mother" generated the CBS comedy its highest ratings
ever. It's worth noting that Spears was also seen leaving a Hollywood
recording studio with rumours that she's working on a possible music
video.
People magazine says 16-year-old Jamie Lynn Spears, Britney's little
sister, was seen showing off a sparkling engagement ring. Jamie Lynn, who's
fiancé is childhood friend Casey Aldridge, is expecting this summer.
British pop star Leona Lewis is on the top of the charts in the US.
The winner of the third season of popular UK talent show "The X
Factor" became the first British female solo artist in over 20 years to
top the U.S. pop ratings on Thursday when her single "Bleeding Love"
hit number one in the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Her debut album
"Spirit", due for U.S. release on April 8, has sold over two million
copies so far. Lewis' musical mentor and TV personality Simon Cowell, who
appeared with her on an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show last week, was
ecstatic over her success.
"And when you get those magic words from Oprah, going 'this
girl's a star,' people listen, and it was the best possible endorsement. But
even with all the help she's had, it comes down to one reason and one reason
only, it's her, it's her talent, it's her focus, and this is her time,"
says Simon Cowell.
Here's a news flash...Pamela Anderson's brief marriage to Rick
Salomon, who's best known for making the Paris Hilton sex tape, is officially
over. Court documents listed fraud as the reason for the annulment. Anderson's
previous two marriages lasted less than 4 months each.
It's reportedly splitsville for Robin and Marsha Williams. The
comedian's wife recently filed divorce papers citing irreconcilable
difference. The couple, who were married back in 1989, have two children
together.
And French President Nicolas Sarkozy arrived in Britain this week on a
state visit with his wife, former top model Carla Bruni, just as some British
papers published a nude photo of her dating from her modeling days. The
French first lady appeared in very modest attire on Wednesday however, as if
to prove such escapades belonged firmly to her past.
