Sacred Chants of Shiva From The Banks Of The Ganges - Shiva Manas Puja

Tags: Sacred Chants of Shiva
"Shiva Darsan" is as much a video poem, as it is an experimental ethnographic documentary on Hinduism, holy men, spirituality and transcendence. Shiva is the Hindu lord of procreation and death. Darsan is sacred perception. Darsan is as much to see, as it is to be seen by that of the worshipper and the deity, holy person or sacred place. It is as much the spiritual that yields to be grasped, known, touched and experienced, as it is the worshipper who is there to receive the divine. This piece is also a personal reflection on the Shivaratri Festival at Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu, Nepal, the birthday celebration of Shiva at one of his most important pilgrimage sites in Asia and at the most sacred of Nepalese shrines. It is here that Shiva's birthday celebration is most spectacular with tens of thousands of Hindu pilgrims from throughout India and Nepal in attendance annually. Prior to entering Pashupatinath Temple, the pilgrims ritually purify themselves in the sacred Bagmati River. On the shores of the river, Brahman priests perform cremation ceremonies with the deceased's family members. While devotees of Shiva completely covered in cremation ash perform puja, or ritualized offerings to their lord. "Shiva Darsan" is the first tape produced for "In Celebration of Life.... In Celebration of Death...", a series of experimental ethnographic tapes tapes shot during my fourteen month sabbatical abroad in Asia and the Mid-East while in intensive research and videotape production. This series reveals the religious, cultural and philosophical beliefs of indigenous people from various cultures by exploring their rituals, dance, music and daily activities that revolve around life and death. From birth to death, special rites and celebrations mark the important events of one's existence, assuring a symbiosis of body and soul with the divine. This deep relationship between the people and their gods are reaffirmed through daily activity. At times, the person symbolically becomes god, strengthening their own sense of sacredness and self-respect. This is a excellent rendition by S.P.B. When I made this video montage, the duration was more than 11 minutes. Since YouTube allows only 10 minutes of video, I had to clip background music. You might make out abrupt gaps in the music. Sorry for this trade-off. If interested in having this song, please let me know, will be happy in mailing it to you. Heres a surprise request. I had the demo of this well over 3 years ago. When it came out, I could not believe what Bombergames had done. Their remake simply surpasses all 3 Megadrive originals and that takes tons of talent. Sega should hire theses guys, this game should be released on the DS, PSP, XBLA, WiiWare and PSNetwork. Here you will see me fulffiling my long dream of playing as Shiva (not SOR2 Shiva). Indeed, he has some crazy specials to go along with "Final Crash". Gald to see he, unlike Sega, didnt sit aroudn with his arms rossed, almost going bankrupt in the process... but I still love you, Sega! Notice the many gfx effects such as shadows and reflections, as well as blood and soo many more new stuff. Since the official website has been down, here is the offical forum instead: http://www.kaleth.net/bombergames_forum/viewforum.php?f=4 PS: Those wanted posters on this level are the faces of the remake programmers.

The shiva temple is a two kilometre walk from the Solang Nullah. It can be covered on a horseback for Rs.200 two way. There is a streamline waterfalls from a good height that hits on the Shiv Linga. The Linga is actually a old rock thats been moulded in the shape of a linga due to the waterfalls. In winter this place becomes like Amarnath. Covered with snow! Manali, (alt. 1,950 m or 6,398 ft) in the Beas River valley, is an important hill station in the Himalayan mountains of Himachal Pradesh, India, near the northern end of the Kullu Valley. It is administratively a part of the Kullu District. The population is approx. 30,000. The small town was the beginning of an ancient trade route to Ladakh and, from there, over the Karakoram Pass on to Yarkand and Khotan in the Tarim Basin. Manali and its surrounding areas are of great significance to the Indian culture and heritage as it was the home and abode of the Saptarshi or seven sages. The ancient cave temple, Hidimba Devi Temple, is not far from town. In ancient times, the valley was sparsely populated by nomadic hunters known as "rakshas". The next arrivals were the shepherds who arrived from the Kangra valley and settled to take up agriculture. Some of the earliest inhabitants of the region are the 'naur' or 'nar' which is a caste unique to the Kullu valley. Only a few naur families are known to exist now. A naur family in the village Soyal near Haripur on the west bank of Manali was famous for the vast land they owned and their practice of having 'rakshas' as their labourers. The British were responsible for introducing apples and trout which were not native to Manali. It is said that when apple trees were first planted the fruits were so plentiful that often branches, unable to bear the weight would collapse. To this day apple along with plum and pear remains the best source of income for the majority of its inhabitants. Tourism in Manali received a real boost after the rise of militancy in Kashmir in the late 1980s. This once quiet village was transformed into a bustling town with hundreds of hotels and restaurants. Manali is also the name of an old district of Armenia c. 400-800 Many films have been shot in Manali including Henna, Laal Dupatta Malmal Ka, Krrish etc. In the month of May 2007 parts of the film Jab We Met were shot in Manali starring Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor.
