María del Rocío Trinidad Mohedano Jurado, ROCIO JURADO (Chipiona, Cádiz, 18 de septiembre de 1946 - La Moraleja, Alcobendas (Madrid), 1 de junio de 2006) fue una cantante y actriz española. Rafael Martos Sánchez, 5 de mayo de 1945 Origen Linares, Jaén, España, conocido internacionalmente como Raphael, es uno de los cantantes insignia de España. Su calidad vocal, unida a una gran capacidad histriónica y expresiva, han conquistado al público de todo el mundo hispano por más de cuatro décadas. Es una enorme responsabilidad hacer una breve presentación de la que fue y sigue siendo en los corazones de los miles de seguidores de este torbellino "la mas grande" como a lo largo de su carrera siempre fue llamada. Esta cantante española chipionera de pura cepa siempre estare presente por medio de su arte.

In this second installment of the Rafael Mendez special entitled "The Trumpet," Mendez begins with discussing the origins of the trumpet and then plays an exceptional rendition of the third movement of the Haydn trumpet concerto. For those of you familiar with this piece it will be a breath of fresh air to hear Mendez's version. This was the first piece written for the keyed trumpet, and Haydn wrote this concerto to really showcase this brand new instrument. Unlike other classical trumpet performances of this piece where the trumpet sounds like a part of the orchestra, Mendez electrifies the show by playing with such vigor and virtuosity. I think Mendez is doing Haydn a great favor by playing this piece not as part of an orchestra, but as a trumpet player. Haydn intended this to showcase the trumpet, and Mr. Mendez does just that.

Rafael Mendez is without a doubt the greatest trumpet player who ever lived. If you watch this video you'll see why. The effortlessness in which he goes through extraordinarily difficult passages is unbelievable. And while still playing majestically and musically keeps his performance from being nothing but technicality. In this video he is performing Jota #2 with the David Rose Orchestra. There are a few more performances I have so look out for them in the near future.
