This is for those who buy themselves way too much food at Burger King and end up eating only half of what they ordered. I am trying to prove that as human begins and since we are all god's children, we should be worried about giving each other support so we can all survive. Instead we are worried about who will have the most tanks or guns! If we stopped spending so much money on military expansion, we could easily provide every man, woman, and child in the world with enough food to get fat! Hunger is plaguing our society, its a disease that kills many people every year, and the sad thing is that so many people in rich countries like the United States, Japan, and etc, will never know the truth about World Hunger and the extremity of poverty. And if more people cared there would be a lot less starving people in this world. If this hunger and strife doesn't end soon, I can see a very pathetic world in our future.

You cannot change the past but you can make the future, and anyone who tells you different is a Fucking lethargic devil. I don't look at a few token Latinos and black people in the public eye as some type of achievement for my people as a whole. Most of those successful individuals are sell-outs and house Negros.

www.tearfund.org - 1.3 billion people live in extreme poverty, surviving on less than 60 pence each day. WHY SHOULD YOU CARE? The Bible is full of God's demands on behalf of the poor. A concern for the poor is at the very centre of who God is and this suggests it should be high on our agenda too.

Dmitry Medvedev, the man assured to be elected as Russia's next president on Sunday, has made the battle against corruption a top priority. One of the worst regions affected is Russia's Far East. Al Jazeera's Jonah Hull has been traveling across Russia to find out what problems the new president will face. He reports from the Far Eastern city of Vladivostok. It is a city mired in poverty despite being rich in mineral resources.

My name is Shawn and on September 14 2006, I found my answer on how to make the world a better place. It's because of that answer that I am now in Bangladesh. On September 14th, 2006, the University of Notre Dame (of which I was a student studying for my Masters in Sociology) canceled all of its classes so that students could learn about an important issue: the problem of global health and third world poverty. One of the people who came to speak to us was Dr. Jeffrey Sachs (author of the book "The End of Poverty"). Dr. Jeffrey Sachs believes that extreme poverty can be eliminated in our lifetime. The power of this message inspired me to put school on hold so that I could do my part and hopefully inspire others along the way. I have come to Bangladesh to try and help the poorest of the poor. I am sharing this experience with the world through the power of YouTube. I know that my little "uncultured" project is a drop in the bucket. But hopefully, the more people that be inspired to believe we can end poverty in our lifetime - the closer we can get to that goal. This is just a montage of what I did in my first five months. Please check the other videos for more of what I have been able to do. Aid That I Gave In This Video Include: - 1 Long-Lasting Insecticide Treated Mosquito Net Donated by Vestergaard-Frandsen - 2 Cases of Bottled Water to Residents of a Flood Affected Region - A nutritional meal (including beef as a source of protein) for a large group of poor school children - 1 windup flashlight given to a young student in the rural village who cannot afford electricity - 50 Locally Made and Locally Purchased Mosquito Nets I plan on making more videos explaining each aid operation in more detail in the future. Don't worry - I'm not here to ask for your money. Although, I am asking you to consider rating the video and subscribing :-) My Project's Blog: http://uncultured.com My Project's Photos: http://flickr.com/photos/uncultured/ More YouTube Videos: http://youtube.com/UnculturedProject The entire Notre Dame 2006 forum is available as a free download from: http://forum2006.nd.edu These short excerpts have been used with written permission from the University of Notre Dame's Office of Public Affairs and Communication. Last year, 23.5 million people stood up against poverty and set a new Guinness World Record. They stood up to remind their governments to keep their promises. The promises they made seven years ago with the Millennium Development Goals. The promise to end poverty inequality and hunger. The promise to stop children dying from preventable diseases. The promise to ensure basic education for all children, particularly girls. The promise to stop women dying during pregnancy and childbirth. The promise to provide water and sanitation and to protect the environment. The promise to provide more and better aid, fair trade and debt cancellation. The promise to achieve these goals by 2015. The promises that some of them have not kept. Stand Up and Speak Out is the growing movement of people no longer prepared to stay seated or silent in the face of poverty and inequality. On October 16th and 17th, Stand Up and Speak Out for the Millennium Development Goals. Help us break the world record. So we can break the record of broken promises. http://www.standagainstpoverty.org/

Google Tech Talks January, 8 2008 ABSTRACT For more info, see http://literacybridge.org/ Knowledge is power; but most knowledge is tied up in text. So how do the 774 million illiterate adults in the world access knowledge crucial to preventing disease, creating economic opportunity, and defending their political and human rights? Cliff spent six weeks in a remote region of Ghana to understand rural poverty and sustainable development. He saw many impressive local organizations sharing valuable information for development; but he also experienced the inefficiency of delivering all this information in person. In response to this problem, Literacy Bridge was founded to empower children and adults with tools for scalable knowledge sharing and literacy learning. The Talking Book Project is Literacy Bridge's major program, developing new and affordable digital audio technology to provide vital, locally generated information and literacy training to people with limited access to either. Imagine a $5 iPod used to play locally generated podcasts, plus a decentralized, digital content distribution system that reaches villages without electricity but also enables global content sharing. Aside from the innovative use of technology, partnerships with local businesses, civic organizations, and government agencies play a pivotal role in the Talking Book Project. During this talk, Cliff will share his observations from Ghana and discuss Literacy Bridge's Talking Book Project. Speaker: Cliff Schmidt Executive Director of Literacy Bridge
