A surveillance camera catches a police officer using a Taser to bring a customer under control in a Daytona Beach Best Buy Thursday. Many people are asking if the officer really needed to use 50,000 volts of electricity to calm the allegedly loud-mouthed customer down, WESH 2 News reported. Daytona Beach police officer Claudia Wright said the shopper was resisting arrest, but many people said Wright used excessive force. According to Wright, she confronted Elizabeth Beeland, 35, about using a suspected stolen credit card. George Crosley, is with Cop Watch, a group that polices police actions.

It was about 6:00 PM on a dark and rainy Friday night on February 8, 2008 in downtown Bellevue, Washington. There was a small car fire in the parking lot of Lakeshore Learning Center and the traffic motorcycle officer assisted the fire department with traffic control. While he was directing cars, a red 2008 Audi TT going east bound on NE 4 ST struck him in between 110 AVE NE and 112 AVE NE. He was apparently, ". . . thrown over the hood and into the street," said Public Information Officer, Greg Grannis. The 75 year old driver stopped and is fully cooperating with the Bellevue Police Department. The driver did not appear to be intoxicated. The Officer was rushed to Overlake Hospital were he had surgery to mend a broken leg and is expected to recover. This happened right outside Bellevue City Hall. The road was obviously closed for a while. NOTE: I believe at first, they thought there was an officer down, one journalist told me. Unfortunately, I missed the very first part of the dispatch, so I wasn't exactly sure what happened, but I had a few ideas :) I'm just really glad the officer is going to be OK. ANOTHER NOTE: at 0:14-0:29 an officer accidentally let me get close to the crime scene and I was called back shortly after that. And at 1:54-2:21 I was talking on the phone with either KING 5 or Q 13 FOX News. It was really hard talking on the phone, manning the camera, and holding up my umbrella (I have yet to get a camera rain coat). Plus, the auto-focus on my camera was screwing up because it was dark and rainy, so I had to continually use manual focus. So it was not easy :) PERSONAL NOTE: I sold this footage to KIRO 7 for $100. I was going to sell footage to KOMO 4; I even allowed them to record my footage in their van, but they didn't have any video release forms with them so they told me to go to the station. When I got there, the news assignment person told me by phone that she talked to the news crew and they decided they were not going to use it, so they were not going to pay me. Needless to say: I was not happy with them. I told the KOMO news desk by phone that they wasted my time. I do not mind if they don't want or need my footage, but I felt like they used me. The Original Story: BALTIMORE (AP) - A police officer shown on a YouTube video berating and roughly handling a skateboarder at the Inner Harbor was suspended on Monday. The incident involving Officer Salvatore Rivieri, a 17-year-old veteran, is the subject of an internal affairs investigation, said Sterling Clifford, a spokesman for the Baltimore Police Department and the mayor's office. "The entire incident raised red flags for all of the members of the command staff who watched the video," Clifford told The (Baltimore) Sun. The video, apparently shot last summer, shows Rivieri putting the youth, 14-year-old Eric Bush, into a headlock and pushing him to the ground. "He was just, like, getting an attitude with me, and said he was going to slap me upside down my face, and I was just going on with it and then he tackled me," Bush told WJZ-TV. At one point on the video, Rivieri said, "Obviously, your parents don't put a foot in your butt quite enough, because you don't understand the meaning of respect. First of all, you better learn how to speak. I'm not 'man.' I'm not 'dude,' I am Officer Rivieri." Rivieri told The Sun on Sunday that he did not know that the incident had been recorded or posted on the Internet. He acknowledged having encounters with skateboarders at the Inner Harbor, where skateboarding is banned, last summer, and told a reporter that he would watch the video on YouTube. After he was suspended on Monday, Rivieri said, "I have no comment. Thank you." Clifford said Monday afternoon that Mayor Sheila Dixon had not seen the video, but that its contents had been described to her and that she was "very displeased." "We have invested a lot of time and energy in having better relations between the community and the police," Clifford said. "The bad behavior of one police officer can jeopardize a lot of hard work."
