The main characters Alexei and Tatyana Kazarin leave for a vacation and end up in a detective story. The national secret service is waiting in Odessa for the arrival of a dangerous criminal, with the code name "Bookkeeper", who works for the Ministry of State Security and is searching the files of the Romanian secret service, where his last name should appear. On the beach, the Kazarins meet Vlad, a fellow student of Alexei, who also is searching for the files. It is suspected the files are hid at the house of Misha Virtuoz, the highest authority in Odessa. By accident, Vlad meets the Young Maya on the beach, who according to Alexei is the prettiest girl in Odessa. Vlad falls for her. At the following meeting Vlad is shown pictures of Virtuoz' family and he sees a photo of Maya, Virtuoz' niece. Only a few hours remain until the attack. Vlad and Alexei enter Virtuoz' house and beg Maya to run, but the girl is adament, she won't leave her uncle...
