Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clp709yoPD0 Part 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lq7sG2uk-J0 Total time: 21:24 Part One of a presentation I gave in 2005 for my final project in a philosophy class, in which I attempt to prove moral absolutism and refute moral relativism. None of the arguments are original; most of them are from C.S. Lewis and Peter Kreeft (and are cited). The pictures of Aragorn, Mussolini and the nazis, Peter Kreeft, C.S. Lewis, and Super Mario World, and the music from Lord of the Rings soundtrack, Riven, "Hellmarch" from Command and Conquer: Red Alert, etc., were used without permission or citation. But I hope the powers that be will forgive my educational, noncommercial use of them.

Yes, it's yet another video from that dynamic duo, McVivo! This time, the gang is living in a small European country, under the control of the evil King House, and his Queen Cuddy. His minions (Cameron, Chase, and Foreman) are plotting to overthrow the monarchy, while the country is thrust into turmoil over the loss of their farmland, thanks to Jeff and his trusty camel, Barnaby. Meanwhile, Wilson just won't shut up about riding the dang camel! Will the revolution work out? Will they get their land back? And why does Foreman sound like he's from the Bronx? Watch and find out...and remember, this is only Part One! Part Two will be out shortly.

The empire never ended: http://citizenj.files.wordpress.com/2008/07/theempireneverended2006.pdf "At the heart of fear of the unknown is the fear of freedom, the fear of responsibility, the fear of the self and the fear of life. These are all the same thing for the hereditary slave. At the heart of the fear of the unknown is anhedonia. Anhedonia is the inability to love, to feel love or to express love. It is the inability to experience pleasure, to give it or receive it. Anhedonia is the result of a preoccupation with the ego-image, a false conception of the self which springs not from the validation implicit in succeeding in establishing authentic relations with others, but from a paranoid hallucination that originates in the oldest and most archaic region of the human brain and otherwise manifests an underlying desire to return the womb. At the heart of every anhedonic impulse to deny the self and to control others, so that they may not discover that we hate ourselves, worship idols and are prisoners of fear, is a moral absolutism. Moral absolutisms change, but all are based on the false dichotomy of Good and Evil. At the heart of every moral absolutism is an idée fixe. Fixed ideas are the willing denial of reality. Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesnt go away, At the heart of every idée fixe is amnesia. At the heart of amnesia is oblivion. Oblivion is the death of identity, the identity of death. At the heart of oblivion is empire. The empire never ended. Empire is the antithesis of the infinite potential inherent to free will. Empire is the tyranny of appearances. Empire is normality. Empire is the reduction of reality to a dogma. Empire lives through us while we navigate oblivion, struggling blindly and desperately in our chains. Empire is a prison of temporality. Empire imposes a narrative of linear time to forestall hope of a second chance in life and to instil a dread fear of making mistakes. Time is not linear; time follows the rhythm and characteristics of the seasonsbirth, growth, decline, death, rebirth. Empire is living death; the personification of fear. I must not fear. Fear is the mindkiller. Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will allow it to pass over me, and through me. Where it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain. This is the Litany Against Fear. Memorise it. Fear compels conformity and imposes amnesia by stealth. Fear colonises memory, identity and consciousness by stealth. We will decolonise by stealth. Leave no trail. No leaders; no followers. No aggression. No machismo. No playing the victim. Learned passivity and helplessness is part of the problem, not the solution. No representatives. Anyone who claims to represent is the enemy. Empire is the representation of freedom and the reality of paranoid hallucination, manipulation and control. When momentum builds, we will know. We will feel it in the air. We will meet each other reborn as brothers and sisters on the streets. We will have never met, but we will know one another as we know ourselves."

This ultra short documentary explains the history of compulsory schooling and advocates choice in education. It starts 200 years back with Prussian absolutism. There, under the regime of a dictatorship, compulsory schooling was invented and implemented on a massive scale. It continues to show how educators such as Maria Montessori, Célestin Freinet, Peter Petersen and Rudolf Steiner had a hard time challenging their governments ideas on education. I made this micromentary to rise awareness about the true origins of our school system. It is also a call for action, to liberate ourselves from this outdated and harmful institution. Our society is changing ever faster, we no longer need a bureaucratic school system. We need learning environments that are way more open and flexible. We need choice in education. Let me know if you like it, and if so help us spread the word! PS At motionbox you can find the video with the music totally in sync: http://www.motionbox.com/video/player/0692d7b7181a8c#1 PPS The music is 'O Fortuna' from Carmina Burana by Carl Orff. I didn't know at first but it appears that there could be no more suitable piece of music to go with the content of the video: it was written in Nazi Germany during the war. Someone was so kind to translate this text in Portugese: "Este curto documentário explica a história da escolaridade obrigatória e advoga a liberdade de escolha na educação. "

See my other videos at: http://coffeeghost.net Absolute morality is a very comfortable concept. It takes away the doubt and uncertainty that we face when we ask ourselves, "Am I doing the right thing?" Simply knowing that there is an absolute morality (for theists, given by the supreme moral authority, God) is comfortable because even though we fail to live up to this code, we know that the moral code itself is reliable. What a sham. I present the case that moral absolutism is really just a more assertive instance of moral relativism ("Our morality is The One True Morality"), and is a mere placebo for those wish to avoid (what they see as) endless, dreadful doubting. The audio is a bit off for the first part, sorry about that. See my other videos at: http://coffeeghost.net

A look at relativism and absolutism, and where God fits. This video is not giving a defense of God's particular commands to kill, which I believe do not contradict his other commands. If you wanna talk about that, bug someone else ;) Recommended resources: Youtuber: veritas48 Text: 'Relativism. Feet firmly planted in mid air' Francis Beckwith, Greg Koukl

Philosophical lecture concerning a fixed point of reference. Relativism, subjectivism, and absolutism. Quirky, even strange, but funny; Frank Peretti, Christian author explains it well in this short taken from the full length version.

Religion: Source of Peace or Cause of Violence and War? World religions have always been used for the good, but they have also been misused. Recently, however, the media has linked religious extremism with violence. Religion appears to be increasingly instrumentalized to fuel hate, secure political power and strengthen claims to absolutism. 1) How can religion's potentially peaceful role be strengthened? How can religion be protected from abuse? 2) What are the contributions of places of worship and religious communities? Are they a part of the problem? 3) Can religions be criticized? What are the limits of legitimate criticism? Gret Haller, Senior Lecturer, Johann Wolfgang Goethe - University, Germany Diarmuid Martin, Archbishop of Dublin, Ireland Farhan A. Many relativists attempt to reduce all claims of moral value to claims of preference. In this video, I attempt to display the error in this philosophy.
