Being the former New York bureau chief of The Washington Times and a contributor for Fox News, you might expect Liz Trotta to champion some pretty horrendous acts, but flippantly calling for the assassination of a presidential candidate is certainly a new trend which seems to be gaining in popularity.
You can also see Trotta pause and stutter to correct herself from saying "Osama", but decides to go with it, purposefully linking the Democratic presidential hopeful with the most wanted terrorist in the world. The fact that a supposed news organization would not only assassinate the character of any politician they disagree with ideologically, but actually call for his literal assassination is reprehensible.
I would say this is a "new low" for Fox, but endorsing the continuation of genocide in Iraq and the nuclear annihilation of Iran are clearly far worse crimes which occur on a far more frequent basis. When a political organization rationalizes that it's acceptable to endorse the assassination of political leaders abroad like President Hugo Chavez or even Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, it's not that big of an ethical jump to then endorse the assassination of political leaders at home.
Liz Trotta's own words from that day are perhaps best applied to herself than Hillary Clinton:
"Whether she meant it or not, she's tone deaf because it's a radioactive word, and the whole question of the first black man becoming a candidate for the presidency of the United States has all kinds of overtones and all kinds of caveats that really have to be considered in this thing... Surely this woman had to know that that was the third rail to say 'assassination', and it's hard to argue for her in this."
You've gotta love the hypocrisy. Sign this petition to request that Fox News fire Liz Trotta.
