Awwww! I actually almost completely ignored George when I first saw (some of) Season 3. Infact, I wanted him gone just because I was so Anti-Huff. I remember him being a little boring and thought his song choices weren't as fun as what Diana or Fantasia would sing. He would come out and I would change the channel for a few minutes, until his turn was over and Latoya or Jasmine was up. But, damn it, I've evolved. I listen to Donny Hathaway, Nina Simone, Ray Charles, etc. And I've just recently seen George Huff's audition since it first aired, and I was hooked. Hooked on Huff! His tone is so deep and husky... And if ya'll been readin, ya'll know how I likes me some husky. And his personality so warm and likeable. He makes me smile. What the hell was I thinking?

For my Grandpa Willie "We will miss you Grandpa." (Footage in the beginning is not the best because I tape it off the tv playing the tape from a few yrs back when Grandpa was on the news.) Willie F. Huff "Banjo Man," 83, of Coal Valley, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island. Willie was born on April 4, 1925, in Good Luck, Ky., the son of Tommie and Rose Ballard Huff. He married Marian Fern Froedge on May 24, 1947, in Good Luck. She preceded him in death on May 20, 1988. He married Hazel Bradshaw Dyer on Nov. 30, 1991, in Davenport. Willie was retired from St. Mary of the Angels Convent in Rock Island. He was a member of New Life Christian Church in Davenport. He was a member of the NRA and was an excellent gunsmith and marksman. He was awarded the distinguished Medal of Honor among others. He enjoyed hunting and walking in the woods with his dog, Lucy. Most of all, he loved making and playing custom banjos.
