SONY BMG enters Punjabi Music with a blast with Gurdas Maan's

In what can well be regarded as a move to contend with, global numero uno music label, SONY BMG has entered the prosperous market of Punjabi regional music. This it does by associating with none other than the iconic singer Gurdas Maan. On January 9th 2008, SONY BMG launched Gurdas Maan's latest album titled Boot Polishan.
This has been one of the most awaited associations, bringing together the best of the best in the Indian music industry. Moreover, the wait and the excitement would not be uncalled for as within less than 3 weeks of Boot Polishan being in stores, it has already sold a record number of 200,000 copies -- making it the fastest and highest selling album in recent times. This immense success has ensured the album a Platinum Record status.
Gurdas Maan's super hit Boot Polishan features the singer himself as the lead vocalist as well as lyricist. The music has been composed by Jaidev Kumar. The lead song 'Sakhiye Saheliye' is a beautiful love ballad. The video features Gurdas Maan and Kuldeep Randhawa.
The title track, 'Boot Polishan' is an interesting and unique one -- it proclaims the dignity of labour and the value of hard work in one's life. Considering Maan's demi-god status amongst the Punjabi music lovers, his personal message towards this cause is quite admirable.
The other two great songs include 'Taare Gawah Ne' and ' Dillan De Jaani'. The video of 'Taare Gawah Ne' features popular Bollywood actress Bhumika Chawla. All the videos are impressively directed by Manjeet Maan.
