In the wake of "Operation Iraqi Freedom," American actor Liev Schreiber had an idealistic notion: to rescue an Iraqi film student from the rubble of his country and bring him to the West to intern on a Hollywood movie (Everything Is Illuminated). It promised to be a heartwarming tale, a small victory out of the troubled mission of the U.S war in Iraq. But as in the war itself, "good" intentions yielded unintended consequences, and even this operation doesn't go according to plan. Director Nina Davenport becomes personally involved in Schreiber's charitable effort, and soon finds herself embroiled in a complex moral quagmire and all-consuming power struggle between filmmaker and subject. Operation Filmmaker is an engaging, sometimes comical political parable, taking the viewer on a riveting ride from Baghdad to Hollywood.

June 2007 Her films have divided Iran, led to her arrest and seen her charged with four crimes that carry the death penalty. But Iranian filmmaker Tehmineh Milani refuses to be silenced. "She focuses on women's rights and shows things the way they are", states a fan. Milani's latest film, 'Payback', is her most contentious to date. It's about four women who meet in prison and form a vigilante gang, posing as prostitutes and handing out their own brand of justice to men. "I wrote the story but the characters are based on real people", Milani states. Although Milani is Iran's most commercially successful director, filmmaking for her is about much more than making money. As she explains: "I think I have an ability to make a positive cultural change".

Farming today is not what we may imagine it to be. It's become largely an industrial process, and corn epitomizes this shift in production methods. In Part 3, 'King Corn' filmmaker Curt Ellis shares his experience growing an acre of corn in Iowa, and what it was like for him and his partner. Surprisingly, the growing of 10,000 pounds of corn in one season was the easiest part of the whole farming experience. The other parts were more mundane, and more disappointing.

Part 1: A conversation with filmmaker Curt Ellis about his new documentary "King Corn", the film that may open eyes across America. Surprisingly, corn is present in some form or another, in almost everything on the American plate. And, none more so, than through the food ingredient "high fructose corn syrup" (HFCS). Is it a good idea to have "HFCS" present in so many of our foods without prior public debate, or adequate science to measure its impact on the long-term health of adults, and especially our children? Should our standard meals be unnaturally skewed toward a corn based diet, in the first place? This interview, along with video clips from the documentary, may not provide the answers here, but it's a good beginning for further thought and reflection. What do you think?

Continuing the conversation, Curt Ellis shares his story about the pervasiveness of corn in our daily foods. We learn that for the first time in human history, the problem of obesity is associated with poverty, not affluence. The processed foods that saturate the market with cheap food products is the chief culprit. Do you feel it's time for a change?

Art Documentary Interview Filmmaking Reel trailer About his films see http://www.don-askarian.am Don Askarian http://www.splitfilmfestival.hr/arhive/2007/askarian.htm) Don Askarian was born in Stepanakert, Nagorno Karabakh. In 1967 he went to Moscow and studied history and art. He worked as an assistant-director and film critic for a year after his study. In 1975-1977 Don Askarian was imprisoned. In 1978 he emigrated from USSR to West Berlin. For the last 25 years he has lived and worked in Germany, The Netherlands and in Armenia, where he founded his own film companies. He is a prize-winner at several international film festivals. In 1996 Don Askarian published his book "The Dangerous Light". Every year the interest to his really very unique films grow up. More and more film festivals come to honor Don Askarian with retrospectives. Serious TV-stations like ARD, WDR, ZDF, Channel 4, Arte, but also Belgian, Greek, Swiss, Slovakian, Armenian etc. TV Channels are constant co-producers and buyers of all his films. The films of Don Askarian were sold and broadcasted world wide about 80 times. Don Askarian, honored with a Harvard Film Archive retrospective, is considered the greatest Armenian filmmaker (but he is Russian-German- Dutch too). In 2004 he received Golden Camera Award for Life Achievement at Int. ART Film Festival, Slovakia. It turns out to be clearer what Hans-Werner Dannowski, the president of Interfilm, meant in 1992: "Time will pass until we recognize that Don Askarian is one of the most important filmmakers of our times. His movies will take up the time they need. Finally the films will have their success not with lies and assimilations but with truth." The retrospectives and special screenings around the world, on TV and important film festivals reflect it, mirror the growing interest in Don Askarian's films followed by a broad fascination by the audience. I'm still in school, but I'm extremely passionate and getting to be very knowledgeable on the filmmaking process. I'm going into screenwriting and create massive amounts of short films and experiments on the side to stay at the top of my game until I get the resources to make my innovative feature script into an actual movie. Thanks for watching! Any comments would be cool. Sorry about the quality. Music: Hans Zimmer

An intriguing interview with the producer, director of the award-winning movie, What The Bleep Do We Know? In this episode, William Arntz discusses the ways in which new ideas in science and quantum physics, and many long-held beliefs behind spirituality and religion are now merging, and how that converging of new science with age-old beliefs, would inspire producer, director, William Arntz to co-create the films,"What The Bleep Do We Know!? and "What The Bleep!? Down The Rabbit Hole." This episode, with host Alison Hill, first aired on PBS affiliate KBDI-Channel 12, Denver, Colorado 2006 / LostArtsProductions.com
