In this interview from April 15th, 1994 Dick Cheney reveals the reasons why invading Baghdad and toppling Saddam Hussein's regime wouldn't be a great idea. He also stipulates that "not very many" American soldiers' lives were worth losing to take out Saddam during the Gulf War. ======================================== SOURCE: This clip was originally aired on C-SPAN3 [History] on the evening of Thursday, August 9th. http://c-span.org

COLLECTOR'S EDITION ON DVD OUT NOW! http://www.heavymetalinbaghdad.com/ Heavy Metal in Baghdad is a feature film documentary that follows the Iraqi heavy metal band Acrassicauda from the fall of Saddam Hussein in 2003 to the present day. Playing heavy metal in a Muslim country has always been a difficult (if not impossible) proposition but after Saddam's regime was toppled, there was a brief moment for the band in which real freedom seemed possible. That hope was quickly dashed as their country fell into a bloody insurgency. From 2004-2007, Iraq disintegrated around them while Acrassicauda struggled to stay together and stay alive, always refusing to let their heavy metal dreams die. Their story echoes the unspoken hopes of an entire generation of young Iraqis. To see more: www.http://www.heavymetalinbaghdad.com/

Toki ni se wo muke arukisaru dake Arukisaru dake... ENGLISH: In the side mirror I can see a pale, empty sky A butterfly roaming through a field of rye And my frozen dreams The flawless future I held close Has no right ending I may stumble, but I don't have any regrets So, you don't have to kiss me & say good night Unable to paint tomorrow, I've been left behind Does anyone care if I cannot say goodbye? I've lost my voice, all I can do is stand still All I can do is stand still... A flickering, shimmering smell of gasoline That day, I disappeared forever Forever changed, uncertain We raise our voices and scream We don't forget a single thing So, you don't have to kiss me & say good night I'll turn my fleeting wish into a bunch of flowers Does anyone care if I cannot say goodbye? I'll just turn my back on time and walk away Just walk away... So, you don't have to kiss me & say good night Satisfied by a love that will never run out Does anyone care if I cannot say goodbye? And am innocently giving everything back? So, you don't have to kiss me & say good night I'll turn my fleeting wish into a bunch of flowers Does anyone care if I cannot say goodbye? I'll just turn my back on time and walk away Just walk away...

"Battle of New Baghdad" - to the tune of "Battle of New Orleans" - written by Jan Lewis, performed by Jan Lewis & Jerry Miller - as featured on Neil Young's Living With War website. This tune features Jerry's "Mesopotamian Lick." He has been saving this lick for nearly forty years, waiting for the right tune. This was the right tune! CREDITS: Jan Lewis: lead vocal Jerry Miller: telecaster Robert Berry: banjo, bass, drums, backing vocals, engineering Thom Duell: baritone backing vocal; engineering Tony Hall: video Ben Burma: environment manager Battle of New Baghdad copyright © Jan Lewis 2002-2003, 2007 In 2K2 politicians made a pact To send us up the Tigris to the center of Iraq. We took our gas masks, Cipro and vaccine, And we went to find their weapons, if you know just what I mean. We found their bombs hidden in their population, In their hospitals and homes, in their schools and in their mosques. If we just win without killing their civilians, We will feed them all on caviar, on bagels, cheese and lox. Well we ran past the Kurds and we ran past the Shiites And we ransacked the palace where inspectors couldn't go. We found so much that the whole world trembled From the shores of Indonesia to the Gulf of Mexico. While the world stood waiting for the apocalypse We are holed up here in Baghdad drinking beer and eating chips. We found a factory making baby milk, But the powder looked like anthrax so we bombed it straight to... Well, we... ...found their bombs hidden in their population, In their hospitals and homes, in their schools and in their mosques. Well we ran past the Kurds and we ran past the Shiites And we ransacked the palace where inspectors couldn't go. We kicked their butt with the whole world cheering, Cause there's more oil here than in the Gulf of Mexico. When Marines enter an abandoned house in Fallujah, Iraq, and hear a suspicious noise, they clench their weapons, edge around the corner, and prepare to open fire. What they find during the U.S. led attack on the "most dangerous city on Earth," however, is not an insurgent bent on revenge, but a tiny puppy left behind when most of the city's population fled before the bombing. Despite military law that forbids the keeping of pets, the Marines de-flea the pup with kerosene, de-worm him with chewing tobacco, and fill him up on Meals Ready to Eat. Thus begins the dramatic rescue attempt of a dog named Lava and Lava's rescue of at least one Marine, Lieutenant Colonel Jay Kopelman, from the emotional ravages of war. From hardened Marines to war-time journalists to endangered Iraqi citizens, From Baghdad, With Love tells an unforgettable true story of an unlikely band of heroes who learn unexpected lessons about life, death, and war from a mangy little flea-ridden refugee. The book From Baghdad With Love is now available at bookstores every where.
