This is BBC1's brand new tape which was introduced in January 1972 and was the last half-hour tape to be introduced before the switching over to the hour-long tapes that August. Foolery was one of the tracks which you may recognise from Happy Polka but then the other tracks featured here were also from that 1981 tape. Enjoy!!!!

On BBC1, a new generation of CEEFAX tapes were launched and, as a replacement for Good Days, which was due to come out of service in November 1987 over on BBC2, this was replaced firstly by Japanese Nights and then this tape as the natural predecessor for Scouting About. Sometimes this tape would contain tracks which would be heard during continuity if programmes crashed, and, also, the third track wa sheard on BBC2 during intervals. The titles on this tape include: 1. Simple Piano; 2. Sand Dunes; 3. Rambo Mambo; 4. Gingerbread. Enjoy!!!!

This particular tape, which first came into service in June 1978, was otherwise entitled Hot Whistling Canary and was performed by the Norman Candler Orchestra and replaced by The Trolley Song in November 1978, and the predecessing tape was Tavern In The Town which included the Ma Jolie track from Dixieland Parade and latterly Carry Me Back To Old Virginny. This tape included some tracks which were later repeated on BBC2's Dixie Omelette in May 1983.

Here is some BBC1 continuity from Wednesday 15th October 1986. It starts with the end credits to Wogan, follows with a trails for the Kenny Everett show, a BBC2 slide indicating what's currently on BBC2, and the BBC1 COW globe and continuity into The Muppet Show, with what is arguably the most fondly-remembered edition of that, the one with Julie Andrews, originally broadcast on ITV over Christmas 1977. The Muppet Show was the first ITV show to be repeated on the BBC, but that's because Jim Henson bought the rights to it from ATV/ITC/Central at an earlier point.
